WILL O WAY 4-TO-5 FAVORITE IN CORTE MADERA STAKES
ALBANY -- Will O Way, who ran third to a filly that is likely to be named the champion 2-year-old filly of 2008, is expected to be a strong favorite in Saturday's $75,000 Corte Madera Stakes at Golden Gate Fields.
The Corte Madera will be run at one mile on the synthetic Tapeta racing surface. Will O Way is the 4-to-5 morning line choice in a field of six and she'll have the services of jockey Russell Baze.
Will O Way ran sixth in the Oak Leaf Stakes and most recently finished fifth in the Moccasin Stakes at Hollywood Park on Nov. 16. Will O Way takes a class drop Saturday and owns superior speed figures over her five rivals in the Corte Madera.
The second choice on the Corte Madera morning line at 7-to-2 is Epitome of a Lady, a Jerry Hollendorfer-trained filly who has won three of her four career starts, including the Harvest Futurity at the Big Fresno Fair. Jockey Catalino Martinez has the call on Epitome of a Lady.
The field for the Corte Madera, in post position order, is as follows Will O Way, Baze rides, 4-to-5; Epitome of a Lady, Martinez, 7-to-2; Salty Sarah, Brice Blanc, 4-to-1; Digestivo, Frank Alvarado, 8-to-1; Mean Joleene, Kyle Kaenel, 20-to-1; and Cherokee Echo, Roberto Gonzalez, 10-to-1. All of he starters will carry 120 pounds.
FORECAST FOR SNOW AT GGF SUNDAY -- Sunday is Snow Day at Golden Gate Fields. The north entrance to the track will turn into a winter wonderland\ where kids will enjoy a play area featuring 40 tons of snow, a sledding hill, and an ice skating rink.
Admission to Golden Gate Fields is only $1 Sunday and kids are admitted free. The track will also offer $1 general parking, $1 programs, $1 hot
dogs, $1 hot chocolates, $1 sodas and $1 beers.
