Awesome Belle Ready for Saturday Turf Test

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 26, 2012) – Jacks or Better Farm, Inc.’s Awesome Belle, last year’s homebred winner of the $300,000 My Dear Girl Division of the Florida Stallion Stakes and a career earner of over $250,000 on dirt, will switch surfaces for Saturday’s $100,000 Calder Oaks, a move trainer Stanley Gold believes can be more than a one-race experiment.

“Her half sister (Bayou’s Lassie) won stakes on this turf course (including the 2006 Calder Oaks) and was a graded stakes winner on grass,” Gold said when asked about the decision to move Awesome Belle to the turf. “So we have every reason to think she’ll handle the turf. At this point, we know she likes dirt, but we think she will go on to be pretty good on turf, too.”
