BEN’S CAT NOT SUPPLEMENTED INTO THE BREEDERS’ CUP TURF SPRINT
LAUREL, MD. 10-25-11---When the Breeders’ Cup announces the horses nominated to next weekend’s 15 races at Churchill Downs Wednesday morning, the list will not include Laurel Park-based Ben’s Cat in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G2).
On Labor Day, the King Leatherbury homebred captured the $356,000 Turf Monster Handicap (G3) at Parx Racing and earned an automatic berth into the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint as part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge “Win and You’re In” series. But the five-year-old is not Breeders’ Cup nominated so Leatherbury has been looking for investors to flip the bill on the $100,000 supplemental fee, which was due yesterday.
