Fourstardave Handicap (G2) Quotes

Brian Lynch, winning trainer of Grand Arch (No. 2): "He's a horse that we've sort of campaigned toward this time of year. He usually gets good and we were hoping he was going to bring his 'A' game today. We felt like he needed his last race there at Belmont but he certainly ran big in this race last year and he got the job done today."

NYSS Statue of Liberty Quotes

Eddie Kenneally, winning trainer of Freudie Anne (No. 3): "This is what she likes to do, long on the grass. This is what she's best at and it worked out today so well. She relaxed nicely on the front end, got a great ride from Jose [Ortiz]. He rode her with a lot of confidence. He had plenty of horse turning for home. She's good right now."

Alydar Quotes

Kiaran McLaughlin, winning trainer of Bay of Plenty (No. 1): "Excellent effort. He got wiped out in his last race, so it was nice to see him have a nice, clean trip, and he ran a big race. He hopefully has a bright future back in graded stakes."
"He went to the lead and opened up and kept going. It was a fast time and he was impressive today. He wants a clean face, so one way or the other we were going to be forwardly placed. We'll have to see where we go from here, but hopefully graded stakes. It's a tough spot, but we would consider [the Woodward]. Obviously timing-wise we'd be o.k. and he won on this track, but it's a tough, tough race."

Longines Test (G1) Quotes

Kiaran McLaughlin, winning trainer of Cavorting (No. 2): "I thought it would be a faster pace early, but it worked out well. I knew she was running and was hoping she would get space to run. She normally doesn't like a lot of dirt in her face but she was covered in dirt today. Irad [Ortiz, Jr.] rode a great race and she ran huge. She deserves a Grade 1 win and she got it. She's a very nice filly."

Hall of Fame (G2) Quotes

Chad Brown, winning trainer of Takeover Target (No. 2): "It just wasn't quite his trip in the [Grade 1] Belmont Derby going a mile and quarter. We got a nice cutback in distance today and a little class relief back into a Grade 2, and it did the trick for this horse. He only had one start as a two-year-old and now he finally seems to be maturing, and Irad [Ortiz,Jr.] knows the horse well. He's the only rider that's ridden him and he gave him a great ride today. I'll see if he can get a mile and an eighth in the [Grade 3] Saranac [September 5]. It's a big purse at the end of the meet. I'll have to evaluate it. I think an extra sixteenth [of a mile] would be O.K., but we'll have to just evaluate it."
