BALTIMORE, 05-08-13 – On a rainy Wednesday morning at Belmont Park, Stuart Janney III and Phipps Stable’s Orb went to the racetrack for the first time since his Kentucky Derby victory last Saturday, jogging a mile under exercise rider Jenn Patterson in preparation for the Preakness Stakes on May 18.

ELMONT, N.Y. – Kentucky Derby winner Orb returned to the track at Belmont Park Wednesday morning, braving the rain and jogging a mile over a muddy main track with regular exercise rider Jennifer Patterson aboard.
Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey said the colt will resume galloping Thursday morning and likely will work on Monday before departing for Baltimore and the next leg of the Triple Crown, the Preakness, at Pimlico Race Course on Saturday, May 18.

BALTIMORE, 05-07-13 – Santa Anita Derby winner Goldencents settled in at Pimlico Race Course Tuesday after arriving in the middle of the night from Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.
In 2012, trainer Doug O’Neill sent Derby winner I’ll Have Another to Baltimore two days after the race, and the colt won the Preakness. Goldencents didn’t run well in the Derby Saturday, finishing 17th on the sloppy, sealed track, but O’Neill decided to follow the plan that worked so well last year and shipped the colt to Pimlico early to prepare for the Preakness.

BALTIMORE, 05-06-13---Goldencents, a contender for the Preakness Stakes (G1) on May 18, began his journey to Pimlico Race Course Monday afternoon at 3:17 when he boarded an airport-bound van at Churchill Downs. The Santa Anita Derby (G1) winner, who finished a disappointing 17th in Saturday’s Kentucky Derby (G1), was scheduled to fly from Louisville to New York before vanning to Pimlico Monday evening.

ORB (First) – Trainer Shug McGaughey reflected on his Hall of Fame career Sunday morning at Churchill Downs after checking on Kentucky Derby winner Orb at Barn 43. Pleased with the energy level displayed by the 2 ½-length victor of Saturday’s classic, the Kentucky native thought of all the people along the way who had helped him find his way to the Churchill Downs winner’s circle.
