2015 ARLINGTON MILLION (GI) STAKES QUOTES
Florent Geroux (jockey, The Pizza Man, winner): “I’m always confident when I ride him, he loves to win and knows where the wire is. But I had no horse the whole way, it looked like he was struggling over the very soft track but when I put him outside he started to hold up and grabbed the bit again and I was thinking oh boy he’s going for a big one here! He is a local horse and even going to the track there was a lot of people cheering for us and I’d like to thank them.”

WATSDACHANCES ADJUDGED A CERTAINTY IN BEVERLY D.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (August 15, 2015) – Qatar Racing and Newsells Park Stud’s Secret Gesture crossed the wire first in the Grade I $700,000 Beverly D., but the British-bred mare’s celebration was cut short when an objection was lodged by Irad Ortiz, Jr., who was aboard third-place finisher Stephanie’s Kitten, for interference. After a lengthy stewards’ deliberation, Michael Kisber, Bradley Thoroughbreds and Nelson McMakin’s Watsdachances was elevated into the win after Secret Gesture was demoted to third on Saturday afternoon at Arlington International Racecourse. After breaking best of all in the field of nine, the daughter of Diamond Green closed resolutely over the rain-soaked yielding turf to finish 1¼ lengths short of Secret Gesture, nipping Chad Brown-trained stablemate Stephanie’s Kitten at the wire. The adjudged victory was the multiple graded stakes-winning mare’s first at the Grade I level and sixth of her 18-race career.

Arlington Million XXXII Advance
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (August 13, 2014) – Strong, short, intimidating, tenacious, and encompassing many countries and continents, Arlington Million XXXII is a lot like Napoleon Bonaparte, and much like the life of said reference the Grade I, 1¼-miles turf fixture seems to be flourishing in its thirties despite environmental turmoil. Seven top class horses – including five Group I winners and two other stakes victors hailing from Ireland, England, France, America, and Canada and representing ownerships from Ireland, America, Qatar, England, Greece and Canada – are set to test the deep waterloos of one of the world’s most competitive and often – like Le Petit Corporal himself – provocatively unpredictable racing events.

SAINT LEON EXITS ARLINGTON SPRINT IN DIVINE FORM
Saint Leon has long been considered one of the best sprinters on the grounds at Arlington International Racecourse, but after Saturday’s gutsy victory in the Listed $100,000 Arlington Sprint, the 8-year-old speed demon could be mentioned as one of the best in the country. Sprinting wire-to-wire in a race turned inside-out by a bad break, the son of Stravinsky dueled the length of the stretch with Hogy, eventually turning back the highly regarded graded stakes winner to win by a head under E. T. Baird.

NYE, THE DOLL OF VOODOOMON STABLE, SPREADS HER MAGIC
No matter one’s spiritual, religious or otherwise transcendent beliefs, there is often something to be said for the intangible and seemingly divine power of perspective. For Voodoomon Stable owner Vanessa Nye, her experience as part of the racing industry has given her the kind of bittersweet-glazed smile and outlook one can only gain through facing the extremes of high and low within such a passion-filled field.
GENERAL ELECTION ON TARGET FOR AMERICAN DERBY, SECRETARIAT
WinStar Farm’s Grade III $150,000 Arlington Classic winner General Election is on target to take a stab at becoming only the second winner of the Mid-America Triple in its current all-turf configuration. The only other horse to win all three – Grade III Arlington Classic, Grade III American Derby and Grade I Secretariat Stakes – was Honor Glide in 1997. That Bonnie Heath homebred won his first stakes in the Arlington Classic and would go on to win graded stakes through his 7-year-old season – including two Grade Is.
