GRADED RACE TRIPLEHEADER KICKS OFF LUCRATIVE 2013 ARLINGTON STAKES SLATE
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (May 22, 2013) – A trio of Grade III stakes races on Saturday will not only kick off the Memorial Day holiday weekend at Arlington International Racecourse, but will also serve as the curtain raisers on the track’s 25-event $5.5 million stakes slate. Two of Saturday’s main events will be run over the Polytrack while the third will be contested over Arlington’s grass course.

Windy Hill Farm’s Nates Mineshaft, one of the premier American handicap horses last year, returns to the track this weekend in the Grade III Hanshin Cup over one mile on the Arlington International Racecourse Polytrack.

TOP FOUR FROM DIXIE STAKES ALL MILLION NOMINATED
Calumet Farm’s Skyring impressed many with a wire-to-wire victory at Pimlico Race Course in its signature turf event, the Dixie Stakes one race prior to the Preakness. Under a heady ride by Hall of Famer Gary Stevens, the D. Wayne Lukas trainee won his second stakes over the Baltimore oval, while leaving multiple graded stakes winners in his wake.

Elite equines, remarkable riders and talented trainers have consistently made their presence known on the first-rate main track and world-renowned turf course for decades, and this will no doubt occur in perpetuity when the season commences in less than 48 hours.

Throughout the history of American turf, Arlington International Racecourse has been a heralded hotbed for rising jockey stardom. Laffit Pincay, Jr., started his U.S. career at Arlington in 1966 (winning the title in 1967), while the budding Hall of Fame careers of Pat Day, Jerry Bailey and Randy Romero laid their respective foundations here. Needless to say, when a fledgling jockey starts making local waves, the Windy City takes notice of the tide.

ARLINGTON TO RUN 25 STAKES IN 2013 WORTH $5.5 MILLION

(Jan. 29, 2013) – The International Festival of Racing, featuring the 31st running of the Grade I Arlington Million, tops a 2013 schedule that includes 25 stakes races worth $5.5 million during 89 days of racing at Arlington International Racecourse from Friday, May 3 through Sunday, Sept. 29.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Oct. 24, 2011) – Led by Breeders’ Cup Challenge winners Little Mike and I’m A Dreamer, a total of 13 horses who have raced at Arlington Park were among the 180 horses pre-entered for this year's event to be run at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif. on Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3. Of the 13 Arlington-raced horses, two were stakes winners here this year, eight started here but did not win a stakes race here in 2012 and the remaining three raced here in previous seasons.
