Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Notes
Cocked and Loaded – Richard Ravin and Patricia’s Hope’s Iroquois winner Cocked and Loaded galloped 1 1/4m on the main track for trainer Larry Rivelli. The son of Colonel John broke his maiden over the Keeneland surface at first asking on April 9 for trainer John Hancock and was privately purchased by the Chicago-based duo of Ravin and Patricia’s Hope principal Vince Foglia and turned over to Rivelli.
Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint and Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile - Thu 10/29
Wesley Ward (Undrafted, The Great War and Green Mask, Turf Sprint) – Wesley Ward’s trio of Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint contenders all had light excercise on Thursday morning, each jogging a lap on the main course. Last year, Ward finished second and third in the Turf Sprint with No Nay Never and Undrafted. Like in 2014, he enters multiple horses in with complementary styles.

Dacita, Stephanie’s Kitten, Watsdachances – Chad Brown’s three Filly and Mare Turf runners all galloped a 1 3/8 miles on the main track Thursday morning as they prepared for Saturday’s $2 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf at 1 3/16 miles.
Four years after her victory in the Juvenile Fillies Turf, 6yo Stephanie’s Kitten returns in search of a bigger prize and a place in Breeders’ Cup history.

Alsvid – Black Hawk Stable’s multiple Graded stakes winner Alsvid jogged 1m around the main track for trainer Chris Hartman who is soaking in his first Breeders’ Cup experience.
“I’m just overjoyed with the experience so far. This has been a lot of fun,” Hartman said.

Grand Arch – Trainer Brian Lynch sent Grand Arch, winner of Keeneland’s Turf Mile on Oct. 3, to the all-weather 5f training track on Thursday where he jogged once around and galloped twice around.
“He looked like he galloped with good energy,” trainer Brian Lynch said. “Hopefully we will get back on the main track on Friday.”
Louis Rushlow was in the saddle and Erin Cotterill on stable pony Casey accompanied them.
Breeders’ Cup Turf Notes - Thu 10/29
Chad Brown (Big Blue Kitten, Slumber, Shining Copper) – All 12 of trainer Chad Brown’s Breeders’ Cup horses went to the track and galloped 1 3/8m Thursday morning.
While European star Golden Horn will be the shortest price on the board for the $3 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf, Brown said he expects Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s Big Blue Kitten - named after the colors of the nearby University of Kentucky -will be the local favorite.
Breeders’ Cup Distaff Notes
Calamity Kate - New Jersey-based trainer Kelly Breen will send out a trio of Breeders’ Cup hopefuls – Calamity Kate in the $2 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff, Bold Quality in the Juvenile Fillies and Stonetastic in the Filly & Mare Sprint.
“They’re all good – looking good, eating good. We’re having a good time in Kentucky,” he said. “Everybody galloped one mile. Just an easy, routine, last minute – just get them around safe gallop. We had two go out before the (maintenance) break, and two after. The track is good. It’s firm. They’re pushing all the water out of it.”

Gleneagles, Ireland’s hope in the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic saw the Keeneland dirt for the first time this morning. With trainer Aidan O’Brien on a pony overseeing the exercise Gleneagles, with Joseph O’Brien in the saddle jogged around the outside of the main track for one circuit before doing a hack canter for another lap before heading home.

– Bob Baffert, the Hall of Fame trainer of $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic favorite American Pharoah, took the conservative approach again with the Triple Crown winner’s preparations on Thursday morning after tack-walking him the day before.
“We took him out to the (Polytrack) training track because when we checked out the main track yesterday afternoon it looked pretty wet still, and when it starts to dry out, it can get a little deep,” he said.

– Jockey Nik Juarez, a native of Westminster, Md., will get an opportunity to compete in his first Breeders’ Cup Friday when he rides Crossed Sabres Farm’s Valid in the Las Vegas Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) at Keeneland.

O’CONNELL’S “SPEED FREAK” SET FOR BREEDERS’ CUP TURF SPRINT
For the second time in three years, Tampa Bay Downs trainer Kathleen O’Connell is bringing a horse to the Breeders’ Cup.
Unlike two years ago, when her Scandalous Act finished a non-threatening sixth at Santa Anita in the Juvenile Fillies as a 15-1 shot, O’Connell’s 3-year-old, record-setting filly Lady Shipman is considered one of the leading contenders for Saturday’s $1-million Turf Sprint at Keeneland.
