$250,000 Sunshine Millions Classic Quotes

Trainer Michael Dilger (Mexikoma): “This has been the target for him for quite a while, and thankfully it worked. He’s won so many of his races closing from so far behind and that style will make you nervous here at Gulfstream. I was glad that Johnny rode him the way he did. He’s got a lot of try and even when he doesn’t win, it’s not because he didn’t try. He’s a horse that’s a two-turn horse. He’s always going to be running best at the end of the races. We’re delighted.

Stakes Quotes:  Lecomte Stakes & Silverbulletday Stakes

GRADE III Lecomte Stakes

Corey Lanerie (jockey, Mo Tom, winner): “It was good, he broke really good and got pinched a little bit going into the first turn. We got knocked a little off stride there but he gathered himself up really good. Down the backside I was pretty confident, especially when I called on him to get in a little bit better position. On the middle of the turn I was going to try to maybe weave my way through but I had so much horse I said, ‘let me just put him in the clear.’”

$150,000 Hal’s Hope (G3) Quotes

Todd Pletcher (Trainer, Mshawish): “I have a lot of respect for Valid. I know him from running against Liam’s Map and Madefromlucky this year, he’s a tough horse to get by. I was a little concerned when he made the lead. You know when you go to fight with him he’s going to fight back. I think Javier (Castellano) knew that as well.
