Gulfstream Park Statement on Agreement with FHBPA


We appreciate the support and hard work of the Florida Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association (FHBPA) and all its members these last few months. We also appreciate the confidence they have shown in Gulfstream Park and The Stronach Group's goal to continue building the sport of Thoroughbred racing.

We now look forward to working with the horsemen at both facilities, the management of Calder Race Course and the state of Florida to complete this agreement in a timely manner.

Triple Crown hopeful California Chrome has first gallop at Belmont Park


ELMONT, N.Y. - Triple Crown hopeful California Chrome had his first gallop around Belmont Park's 1 ½-mile oval this morning, going out on a sloppy track shortly after 6 a.m. with exercise rider Willie Delgado aboard.

California Chrome, who will attempt to become the first horse in 36 years to add the Grade 1, $1.5 million Belmont Stakes on June 7 to victories in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness, galloped an easy 1 ¾ miles over the wet main track.

Fitful Skies ready to run in G2 Sheepshead Bay


ELMONT, N.Y. - Fitful Skies will go in search of her first North American victory on Saturday at Belmont Park when she contests the Grade 2, $200,000 Sheepshead Bay run at 1 3/8 miles for fillies and mares 4-years-old and up.

Triple Crown hopeful California Chrome arrives at Belmont Park


ELMONT, N.Y. - California Chrome, who on June 7 will attempt to become thoroughbred racing's 12th Triple Crown winner when he competes in the Grade 1, $1.5 million Belmont Stakes, arrived at Belmont Park at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

CHUCKAS ADDRESSES POTENTIAL OF MOVING PREAKNESS DATE

BALTIMORE, 05-19-14---At his annual post-Preakness media session this morning in the Pimlico winners’ circle, Maryland Jockey Club president Tom Chuckas addressed the potential of moving the date of the Preakness Stakes (G1). Last week, Chuckas told print reporters he wanted to change the spacing of the Triple Crown.

CHRIS McCARRON JOINS WHOA IN SUPPORT OF FEDERAL LEGISLATION


Chris McCarron, two-time Eclipse Award winning jockey and member of the National Racing Hall of Fame, has joined the Water Hay Oats Alliance in support of federal legislation to ban race day medication. He becomes the first jockey to join the organization as a supporter calling for drug reform and uniformity.
