Delaware Park News & Notes Lake getting ready for Delaware Park
Wilmington, Del., April 18, 2011 — For more than a decade, the barn of Scott Lake has been a dominant presence at Delaware Park and the 45-year-old native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania is hoping for another strong season when the meet opens for the 74th season of living racing on April 30. Post time for the first race is 1:15 p.m.
Lake was the first to win seven consecutive training titles at Delaware Park (2002 through 2008) since Grover “Buddy” Delp won seven in a row from 1963 through 1969. In 2009, Lake’s bid to break the record fell short when he finished second in the standings to Cody Autrey. Last year, he finished second again, but this time to Juan Vasquez.

Rosie Napravnik returning to Delaware Park after Derby
Wilmington, Del., April 12, 2011 — Rosie Napravnik has her sights set on defending her leading jockey title at Delaware Park in 2011. While Opening Day for the 74th season of live racing at Delaware Park is slated for Saturday, April 30, the 23-year-old native of Morristown, New Jersey, is planning on returning to the Stanton oval shortly after riding Pants on Fire, who broke his maiden at Delaware Park last year, in the Kentucky Derby on May 7.
“Delaware Park has been a track I can call home because my family and friends are close to me and I feel like the East Coast is home for me, so I really feel like I will be coming home,” said Napravnik, who notched her 1,000th career victory at Delaware Park last year aboard Laughing Charlie on October 27. “I have had a lot of success, and I have a lot of business at Delaware Park. I also think riding on the East Coast and at Delaware Park will open up a lot more opportunities.”

2010 Leading Trainer Juan Vazquez preparing to defend title
Wilmington, Del., April 11, 2011 — The barn of defending leading trainer Juan Vazquez is gearing up for the start of the 74th season of live racing at Delaware Park on Saturday, April 30. Post time for the first race is 1:15 p.m.
After a series of successful Delaware Park meets in which Vazquez frequently finished in the top five trainer standings, the 36-year-old native of Buenos Aires, Argentina broke through in 2010 to capture his first leading trainer title at Delaware Park.

Delaware Park Announces 2011 Live Racing Dates
Wilmington, Del., February 15, 2011 — Delaware Park announced the dates for the 2011 live racing season today. The 74th season of live racing at the Stanton oval will feature 106 days with the meet starting on April 30 and concluding on November 5.
Beginning on May 7, live racing will be held on Saturdays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Daily first race post time is set for 1:15 p.m.

Stanton, Del., November 10, 2010 – The live racing season at Delaware Park concluded on a high note on Saturday with the all sources handle (live on-track and live simulcasting-out) and the average all sources handle increasing over the totals for 2009.
The 113-day 2010 live racing season ended with an all sources handle (live on-track and live simulcasting-out) of $181,071,299, a 7.16% increase over the 2009 live racing meet, which had 109 racing days. While the average number of starters per race was down slightly from 2009, the average all sources handle per day was up 3.36%. In 2010, the average all sources handle per day was $1,602,401 compared with $1,550,256 in 2009.

JUSTAKISS & BREEDERS’ CUP SIMULCAST HIGHLIGHT CLOSING DAY CARD

Richard Santulli’s Check Point tops the field of nine fillies and mares entered in the mile and a sixteenth Justakiss Overnight Stake. In her most recent outing, the 4-year-old daughter of Posse finished second beaten a neck in the mile and a sixteenth $50,000 Rosenna Stakes at Delaware Park on October 11. Previously, the Kentucky-bred conditioned by Alan Goldberg won a one mile allowance at Parx on September 6. She sports a career record of five wins, five seconds and three thirds from 19 starts with earnings of $195,540.

Win Willy wins Brandywine Stakes
Stanton, Del., October 30, 2010 — Jer-Mar Stable’s Win Will notched a victory in the $125,000 Brandywine Stakes at Delaware Park today.
With Abel Castellano Jr. aboard, the 4-year-old son of Monarchos recorded his second win of the year by a length and returned $5.40 as the favorite in the field of seven. His previous victory came on January 21, when he won a one mile allowance at Oaklawn Park. The Kentucky-bred conditioned by McLean Robertson covered the mile and a sixteenth over a fast main track in 1:42.95.

A.R. Napravnik notches 1,000th career victory
Stanton, Del., October 27, 2010 — Jockey A. R. Napravnik notched her 1,000th career win at Delaware Park today. The milestone victory came aboard Laughing Charlie, a 3-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Indian Charlie trained by Steve Hobby, in the fourth race. Napravnik is the current leading rider at the Delaware Park meet with a record of 121 winners from 512 mounts. The 22-year-old native of Morristown, New Jersey, is seeking to become the first female leading jockey in Delaware Park history which is scheduled to conclude on November 6 with a special first race post time of 11:45 a.m.

A.R. Napravnik one win away from 1,000 career victories
Stanton, Del., October 26, 2010 — Jockey A. R. Napravnik completed the race day at Delaware Park today a single victory from 1,000 career victories. Napravnik notched career win 999 aboard Lady Maureen, a 2-year-old filly conditioned by William Badgett, Jr., in the sixth race on the card. The 22-year-old native of Norristown, New Jersey has five scheduled mounts on the Delaware Park card tomorrow.

Love That Dance takes Sweet & Sassy Stakes
Stanton, Del., October 23, 2010 — John Petrini’s Love That Dance won the $125,000 Sweet & Sassy Stakes at Delaware Park today.
With Elvis Trujillo aboard, the 4-year-old daughter of Not For Love prevailed by 2 ¼-lengths and returned $3.00 as the favorite in the field of six. The New Jersey-bred conditioned by Benjamin Perkins, Jr., covered the six furlongs in 1:10.30 over a fast main track.

Love That Dance tops Sweet & Sassy
Stanton, Del., October 18, 2010 — John Petrini’s Love That Dance tops a field of six fillies and mares entered in the six furlong $125,000 Sweet & Sassy Stakes at Delaware Park this Saturday.
In her most recent outing, the New Jersey-bred conditioned by Benjamin Perkins Jr. finished second beaten a half length in the seven furlong $100,000 Maryland Million Distaff Handicap at Laurel Park on October 2. Previously, the 4-year-old daughter of Not for Love notched an 8 ½-length triumph versus state-bred rivals in the six furlong $95,000 Eleven North Handicap at Monmouth Park on September 18. Her only other victory this year came on August 22 when she recorded a 1 ½-length victory in the six furlong $100,000 Trenton at Monmouth. She sports a career record of seven wins, six seconds and a third from 22 starts with earnings of $434,794.

Anna “Rosie” Napravnik notches five victories
Stanton, Del., October 16, 2010 — The leading jockey at Delaware Park, Anna “Rosie” Napravnik notched five winners, falling one short of the record, from seven mounts at Delaware Park today.
The 22-year-old native of Morristown, New Jersey, notched her first winner of the day in the second race with Mipando, trained by Peter Walder. She followed by winning the third race astride Poseidon, conditioned by Steve Klesaris. In the fourth, she scored aboard Governor Jack, trained by Thomas Iannotti. Her fourth win on the day came in the sixth race, the $75,000 Tax Free Shopping Stakes, with Southern Truth conditioned by Jason Servis. Her fifth win came in the tenth and final race on the card astride Iris’ Proverb trained by Sam Cronk.
