Snaafy bids to take Jebel Ali Mile
Friday's Jebel Ali card is highlighted by a quality renewal of the 1600m Listed Jebel Ali Mile, kindly sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Shadwell Farm.
The sponsor also owns one of the leading fancies for the race in Snaafy, who won over course and distance in 2008 and the following year won the Group Three Burj Nahaar during the Dubai International Racing Carnival on the Nad Al Sheba dirt.

Duffield and O’Shea score Abu Dhabi feature with Takaamul
Abu Dhabi's Sunday evening card was highlighted by a 2200m handicap, one of three on the card and Champion Jockey Tadhg O'Shea landed the spoils on Takaamul in the colours of his main employer, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
With Richard Hills choosing to partner stable companion Menwaal, O'Shea was the beneficiary on the Gill Duffield-trained winner on whom he was always close to the pace. He said: "It was a decent race and he has stayed on nicely. Gill's horses are in great form."

Albar Lotois to claim Abu Dhabi feature?

Emmrooz stakes his claim at Jebel Ali
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Derrinstown Stud were the generous sponsors of Friday's Listed Jebel Ali Stakes but the owner's famous blue and white silks were denied victory when his Haatheq was caught close home.
The race was won by Emmrooz, trained on the course by Dhruba Selvaratnam for Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, his main patron and owner of Jebel Ali racecourse.

Haatheq looks favourite for Listed Jebel Ali Stakes
Derrinstown Stud, the Irish arm of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Shadwell organization, are the generous sponsors of Friday's Listed Jebel Ali Stakes.
The AED500,000 1950m race is the first of three Listed races at Jebel Ali over the course of the season. Haatheq looks certain to be a popular Pick Six selection and carries the famous blue and white silks of the sponsor.

Al Muhairi nabs first round of Arabian Triple Crown
The Listed Arabian Triple Crown Round I was the feature at Abu Dhabi on Sunday evening and Tadhg O'Shea was in the saddle on Musabah Al Muhairi’s Tenor Des Vialettes who made virtually every yard of the running. It was only his second career start and he was able to reverse form with both Aqmaar and Frynchman who finished in front of him on that occasion.
O'Shea was delighted: "He learned an awful lot from that first run and has come on a lot from it. Hopefully he can improve again."

UAE apprentice jockey on the rise
Dubai, UAE, January 4, 2011 – The Emirates Racing Authority’s commitment to the promotion of young Emiratis into horse racing continued at Friday’s Jebel Ali meeting when its latest apprentice Saeed Al Mazrooei had his first racecourse ride.
Al Mazrooei rode the Ali Rashid Al Raihe-trained Dahes in the 2nd race. The combo jumped well out of the starting gates and raced in a position near the rear before improving to place seventh.

New year’s double Lemartinel and O’shea
Trainer Eric Lemartinel started 2011 in the same rich vein of form he finished 2010 with a double at Abu Dhabi on Sunday evening, taking his seasonal tally to 14.
Champion Jockey Tadhg O'Shea was also in double form and kick-started his brace on Lemartinel's AF Dhaham in the 1400m conditions race.

Local stars set for international appeal
Alsadeek and Haatheq were the equine Jebel Ali stars at the final UAE meeting of the year and both are likely to be seen at the 2011 Dubai International Racing Carnival which starts in just under two weeks.
Haatheq, owned by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum whose Shadwell Farm sponsored the 1800m prep race for the Jebel Ali Stakes, will be back for that 1950m Listed feature in a fortnight.

Lemartinel and Avranche’s filly claims classic
French trainer Eric Lemartinel dominated proceedings at Abu Dhabi on Sunday evening, saddling half of the six winners, including first and second in the two races over 2200m.
However, his treble was highlighted by AF Al Lijam who won the night's feature, the 1600m Abu Dhabi Fillies' Classic under Gerald Avranche.

UAE bred fillies to clash in Abu Dhabi feature
The Abu Dhabi Fillies' Classic is the highlight of Abu Dhabi's Sunday fixture and 12 have been declared for the 1600m Prestige contest restricted to three-year-old fillies foaled in the UAE.
The only winner amongst them is top-weight Athena, trained by Ahmed Al Shamsi and a dual winner on the course over 1400m. She is penalised for those victories but reunited with apprentice Antioco Murgia who rode her to both victories.

He battled bravely but could not withstand the challenge of Emmrooz, trained on the course by Dhruba Selvaratnam for his main patron and course owner His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
