KENTUCKY DERBY UPDATE – THURSDAY, APRIL 25, 2013

BLACK ONYX – Sterling Racing’s Black Onyx (No. 12) galloped 1 ½ miles over a track labeled as “good” on a clear, crisp Thursday morning at Churchill Downs. Regular exercise rider Aurelio Gomez was aboard Black Onyx for the exercise that took place after the renovation break and during the time reserved for Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks horses.

HALO DOLLY SEEKS FIRST WIN OF 2013 IN WILSHIRE


INGLEWOOD, Calif. (April 25, 2013)—Halo Dolly, who won the Fran’s Valentine Stakes in 2012 in her only previous appearance over the Betfair Hollywood Park turf course, will try for the 15th victory of her career in the $100,000 Wilshire Handicap Sunday.

TESIO AND SHINE AGAIN STAKES TOP SATURDAY CARD

Flat Out, Seeking First Win Since Gold Cup, Returns to Belmont for Westchester


ELMONT, N.Y. – In three starts at Belmont Park, Flat Out has won three graded stakes: the 2011 Grade 2 Suburban Handicap and the 2011 and 2012 editions of the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup.

On Saturday, Flat Out will attempt to improve his Belmont record to 4-for-4 when he carries the Preston Stables colors in the Grade 3, $150,000 Westchester for 3-year-olds and up.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Tuesday, April 23, 2013) – Trainer Bob Baffert told the Churchill Downs communications team Tuesday afternoon that Super Ninety Nine (No. 18) and Den’s Legacy (No. 20) were no longer under consideration for the $2 million Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (Grade I) on Saturday, May 4.
