BAZE WINS FOUR RACES ON CLOSING DAY TO EARN 43RD CAREER RIDING TITLE AT GGF
ALBANY -- Jockey Russell Baze won four races on the closing-day card of the summer meeting to earn his 43rd career riding title at Golden Gate Fields Sunday.
Julien Couton held a 24-23 advantage over Baze in the jockey standings heading into the finale but the Frenchman went 0-for-5 while Baze went 4-for-7 to finish the 17-day meeting with 27 victories. Baze won the riding championship despite missing two days of the short meeting due to out-of-town engagements.

COUTON ENTERS CLOSING-DAY CARD WITH LEAD IN JOCKEY STANDINGS AFTER RIDING TWO WINNERS
ALBANY -- Julien Couton rode two winners Saturday at Golden Gate Fields to take sole possession of first place in the jockey standings with one day remaining at the summer meeting.
The 17-day summer session concludes with a nine-race card Sunday. Post time is 1:15 p.m. and Couton goes into the finale holding a 24-23 advantage over Russell Baze in the rider standings.

BAZE, COUTON TIED ATOP JOCKEY STANDINGS HEADING INTO FINAL DAYS OF SUMMER MEET
ALBANY -- Golden Gate Fields will wrap up its summer meeting with racing programs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Post time is 1:15 p.m. each day and Russell Baze and Julien Couton head into the final three days tied atop the jockey standings with 21 wins apiece.
Baze, who has won 42 riding titles at Golden Gate Fields during his Hall of Fame career, is scheduled to ride 19 horses during closing weekend. Couton, a native of France who came to Northern California in 2009, is scheduled to ride 18 horses and is seeking his first riding championshi

TRAINER MOREY WINS DAILY DOUBLE WITH LONGSHOT AND FAVORITE
ALBANY -- Trainer William J. Morey, Jr. used a longshot and heavy favorite to sweep the early Daily Double at Golden Gate Fields Sunday.
Morey won the first race with Lil Angelina, who at 8-1 was the largest price on the tote board in a field of five fillies and mares. Ridden by Jesus Velazquez, Lil Angelina led every step of the way in the one-mile turf race and paid $18.60.

BLEACH BLONDE RALLIES FROM LAST TO FIRST AT GGF
ALBANY -- Bleach Blonde, racing six furlongs for the first time in more than three years, rallied from last to first to win the $40,992 sprint feature at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.
A 5-year-old mare trained by Lloyd Mason, Bleach Blonde blew by the leaders in the final furlong and scored by four lengths under jockey Alejandro Gomez. Special Holiday took second by half-length over Lady of Fifty.

SHUDACUDAWUDYA EDGES CARDIFFBYTHESEA IN FAMILY FEUD
ALBANY -- In horse racing’s version of The Family Feud, Shudacudawudya
edged his promising stablemate, Cardiffbythesea, by a half-length in the $40,382 allowance feature at Golden Gate Fields Monday.
Shudacudawudya and Cardiffbythesea are both trained by Lloyd Mason, who owns Cardiffbythesea and conditions Shudacudawudya for his son, Brett, a horse owner and farrier. Brett’s Shudacudawudya handed Lloyd’s Cardiffbythesea his first lost as the
4-year-old gelding went into the race 3-for-3.

LIVE SUNDAYS RUNS DOWN STARBOARDLIGHTS IN SPRINT FEATURE
ALBANY -- Live Sundays, receiving a strong ride from jockey Alejandro Gomez, ran down Starboardlights in the final strides to win the $37,700 sprint feature at Golden Gate Fields Sunday.
Live Sundays ran six furlongs in 1:10.95 while defeating Starboardlights by a half-length in the allowance dash for 3-year-olds and up. King Kelly finished third.

CONTROL SEEKER DOMINATES ON GOLDEN GATE FIELDS TURF
ALBANY -- Control Seeker took command from pacesetter Photo Shopped entering the stretch and went on to score an impressive 3 1/4-length victory in the $35,281 turf feature at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.
Control Seeker, ridden by Francisco Duran, won the 1 1/16-mile allowance race in 1:44.40 and paid $6.40 as the second betting choice in a field of six. Duke of Doom, the 8-5 favorite, took second by 1 1/2 lengths over Where’s the Remote.

HOLIDAY WEEKEND OF RACING AT GGF BEGINS WITH FRIDAY HAPPY HOUR CARD
ALBANY -- A holiday weekend of racing at Golden Gate Fields begins Friday with a seven-race Happy Hour program that starts at 3:45 p.m. and features half-price admission, food and drink specials, and live music between races. College students presenting a valid student ID will receive free admission.
Post time Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Labor Day, is 1:15 p.m. Fans attending the Labor Day card will receive a free Golden Gate Fields baseball cap and also have the opportunity to watch Dachshunds compete in the Wiener Nationals.

LEADING MEN AT GGF TEAM UP FOR VICTORY ON CLOSDAY DAY
ALBANY -- Jockey Russell Baze and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, the leading men at Golden Gate Fields, teamed up for a victory on closing day of the track’s 2011-2012 winter/spring season. The Sunday finale attracted a crowd of 8,189.
Baze and Hollendorfer captured the third race with Light Up the Sky, who rallied from off the pace to win the 1 1/16-mile turf race for fillies and mares by a half-length over 3-2 favorite Ruby Pumps. Light Up the Sky paid $10.20 – a handsome price for a horse with Hall of Fame connections.

SMARTY CORN SCORES WIRE-TO-WIRE WIN IN FRONT OF 9,346 AT GOLDEN GATE FIELDS
ALBANY -- Smarty Corn, rated smartly on the lead by jockey Francisco Duran, posted a wire-to-wire victory in the $35,685 allowance feature at Golden Gate Fields Sunday in front of a festive crowd of 9,346.
The attendance for the Hispanic Heritage Day program was the second-largest gathering at Golden Gate Fields in 18 years. A Sunday crowd of 11,462 attended the track on April 5, 2009.

GGF WILL HOST TRIPLE CROWN PARTIES AND CONDUCT 10-RACE CARD SATURDAY
