Now, more than ever, we as track operators, horsemen and regulators must come together to do everything we can to prevent any abuse of our thoroughbred athletes. We must also work diligently to ban any individuals engaged in fraudulent or harmful activities from participating in our sport. The goal of these efforts is to achieve the highest standards with respect to the integrity of our sport and the safety of our athletes, both equine and human.

Rafael Bejarano Set for a ‘Wild’ Ride Aboard Gulfstream-Based Colt


Wildcat Red Gets Sixth Different Rider for Triple Crown

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Wildcat Red has been ridden by five different jockeys in his last five races at Gulfstream Park while establishing himself as a prominent Triple Crown contender. Rafael Bejarano is slated to become No. 6.

After watching how things unfolded in last weekend’s major prep races and considering his options, trainer Jose Garoffalo decided to go with Southern California’s most dominant jockey for a run in the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on May 3.

They are back again this week to watch Wildcat Red in the most important start yet of his young career, Saturday’s $1 million Besilu Stables Florida Derby (G1), Gulfstream’s signature race and one of the most significant preps on the road to the Triple Crown.

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - Social Inclusion turned a number of heads when he ran away from respectable group of maidens at Gulfstream Park on the undercard of the Besilu Stables Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) on Feb. 22. The 3-year-old son of Pioneerof the Nile earned a 93 Beyer Speed Figure for his 7 1/2-length success that afternoon, and that effort also caught the attention of trainer Joe Orseno. Together with partner Brian Miller of Silly Goose Racing, Orseno owns an 8-year-old mare named Saint Midas, who like Social Inclusion was produced by the graded stakes placed Saint Bernadette.
