Shadwell Stable’s multiple Grade 2-winning son of Tapit soared through a five-furlong breeze in 1:01 Friday morning over the main track at Palm Meadows, Gulfstream Park’s satellite training facility in Palm Beach County.

– Shadwell Stable’s undefeated multiple Grade 2 winner Mohaymen breezed a half-mile Friday morning in preparation for his next start in the $1 million Xpressbet.com Florida Derby (G1) April 2 at Gulfstream Park.

With regular exercise rider Miguel Jaime aboard, the sophomore son of Tapit was clocked in 49.40 seconds, second-fastest of 36 horses at the distance over the main track at Palm Meadows, Gulfstream’s satellite training facility in Palm Beach County.

– Trainer Doug O’Neill confirmed Wednesday that Reddam Racing LLC’s Nyquist is scheduled to arrive at Gulfstream Park March 28 for a highly anticipated clash of undefeated 3-year-old colts with Mohaymen in the $1 million Florida Derby (G2) April 2.

“Our plan right now is to ship on the 28th. We’re scheduled to breeze tomorrow and every week until we go there,” O’Neill said. “When he gets there he’ll just go to the track. He won’t work.”

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Racing near the lead from the outset, Groupo 7C Racing Stable’s Grand Tito took command approaching the stretch and held off late-running Kaigun to win the $200,000 Mac Diarmida (G2) Saturday at Gulfstream Park.

The 21st running of the 1 3/8-mile Mac Diarmida was the last of three graded stakes on Saturday’s 13-race program, following the $150,000 The Very One (G3) and the $500,000 Gulfstream Park Handicap (G2).

Blofeld Edges Stablemate Stanford in Gulfstream Park Handicap


HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Blofeld made a late surge along the rail to edge stablemate Stanford by a head to capture Saturday’s $500,000 Gulfstream Park Handicap (G2), finally living up to the promise the 4-year-old son of Malibu Moon showed as a juvenile.

Owned by Glencrest Farm LLC and JSM Equine LLC, Blofeld returned $21.40 to lead a four-horse Todd Pletcher-trained contingent that yielded a 1-2-4-5 placing in the seven-horse field for the 72nd running of the mile handicap. Pletcher was also represented by Anchor Down, who finished third and was placed fourth for interfering with favored Valid, and fifth-place finisher Itsaknockout.

– Trainer Stanley Gold has firmed up next-out plans for Jacks or Better Farm’s duo of Fellowship and Awesome Banner, who finished third and fifth, respectively, in last Saturday’s $400,000 Fountain of Youth (G2) at Gulfstream Park.

Fellowship is scheduled to return in the $1 million Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream April 2, while Awesome Banner is slated to run back in the $350,000 Tampa Bay Derby (G2) March 12 at Tampa Bay Downs.
