Wildcat Red, Mon Arch Lass Graduate in Style at Gulfstream Park
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Wildcat Red pulled off a mild upset in Saturday’s fifth race, a $46,000 maiden special weight event for 2-year-olds, but the son of D’wildcat’s dazzling 8-length debut victory at Gulfstream Park didn’t come as a surprise to jockey Edgard Zayas.
$100,000 The Montbrook Quotes
Owner James Dodge (Black Diamond Cat): “We’re thrilled to death with our horse. We bought him for $6,000 as a yearling and he’s turned into a really quite nice sprinter.
“In the Housebuster, coming down to the wire, he still had a lot in him. We thought he could get a mile under the right conditions and it looks like he did pretty easy.”
Jockey Jilver Chamafi (Black Diamond Cat): "I was sitting and waiting for a hole to open. When I shook him he just went and drew off. No problems."
Did you know they were going slow? "It didn't matter."
Note: Trainer Larry Bates was in Kentucky.

$100,000 Housebuster Quotes
Trainer Larry Bates (Black Diamond Cat): "He prepped really well for this. He went in 47 (seconds for a half-mile) for this. The weather really helped him and the way the race set up. (An off track) has helped him in the past. He nickers when it rains. He’s such an honest horse. That’s a lovely field that was behind him. He’s a little underrated, but we think a lot of him. We’ve had some problems that we’ve ironed out over time. I’d like to say he’s like a good whiskey – he improves with age. It’s great that he’s getting a little recognition. A horse like him keeps you going.”
Jockey Jilver Chamafi (Black Diamond Cat): "Everything went perfect. He broke good and everything was fine. The only thing the trainer told me was don't fight him too much."
Jockey Edgard Zayas (Swagger Jack): "We had a perfect trip, he just came up empty in the end."
