$200,000 Swale (G2) Quotes

Trainer Nick Zito (Spot): “First, I’ve got to thank the Lord. Second, I have to thank Mr. (Joseph) Moss. He’s an elderly gentleman who loves this sport. He’s just looking for horses like this. He’s been trying for a two years now. We’ve got to a couple sales and things haven’t worked out. I watched this horse run a month ago, and I know (owner/breeder) Mr. (Curtis) Green very well. I approached him, and he said, ‘Why not?’ Mr. Moss is getting up there in age and has so much guts, it’s amazing.

Florida Derby Rematch Possible for Wildcat Red And General A Rod

Holy Bull Winner Cairo Prince Prepares to Join Them in Besilu Stables Florida Derby

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - Wildcat Red and General a Rod, the one-two finishers in yesterday's $400,000 Besilu Stables Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park, will likely take their nascent rivalry to the next level in the $1-million Besilu Stables Florida Derby (G1) on March 29. Awaiting them in that marquee event at a mile and an eighth will be Cairo Prince, who sat out the Fountain of Youth following his romp in the $400,000 Miller Lite Holy Bull Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream on January 25. General a Rod had edged Wildcat Red in the Gulfstream Park Derby on New Year's Day, but the latter colt turned the tables in their virtual match race in the Fountain of Youth.

$400,000 Besilu Stables Fountain of Youth (G2) Quotes

Trainer Jose Garoffalo (Wildcat Red): "We proved that we were right, that the horse could get the distance. I thought (General a Rod) was the horse to beat and the race was a copy of the last race, the Gulfstream Park Derby, but this time I got lucky and I beat him.

"I was expecting him to be right next to or right behind me. Javier knows my horse, that's why he went after him very early. When my horse feels another horse alongside, he runs harder. Now we can think seriously about the (Kentucky) Derby. He never quits and he likes that - to feel the horse next to him. I was very confident at the wire. I knew that he was going to beat him this time. Last time, the post position wasn't good, but now it was a different story, thank God.
