Mrs. Ogden Phipps Hurdle Stakes Quotes

Kate Dalton, winning trainer of Cat Feathers (No. 1): "Any win in Saratoga is what you strive for, but to win something several times is just wonderful. It just sets a horse up to have a little more of a following. Any following we can get for steeplechasing is just great. She's a really, really neat mare. I'm delighted she has some fans."

John’s Call Quotes

Shug McGaughey, winning trainer of Tricky Hat (No. 1): "I thought he won initially, but I didn't know watching the replay. I thought Rosie [Napravnik] gave him a great ride. When he came around the turn she just said, 'The heck with it, we gotta go.' I'm pleased. He had two good races at Keeneland earlier in the spring, then he had a clunker at Monmouth. He trained great and ran great today, so we're happy."

NYSS Statue of Liberty Division Quotes

David Donk, winning trainer of Selenite (No. 9), fourth-place finisher Lady Kreesa (No. 5), and sixth-place finisher Funky Munky Fever (No. 3):"I really think they're three decent fillies; they all have a future as they get older. [Lady Kreesa] slipped really bad coming out of the gate, I thought she would be up on the pace. [Jockey] Junior [Alvarado] wasn't happy with the turf with [Funky Munky Fever]. They're three decent fillies; I think they all appreciate two turns."

NYSS Cab Calloway Division Quotes

Linda Rice, winning trainer of Mark My Way (No. 7): "You know, I thought when he was laying third that there were slow fractions. I thought that the stronger horses were behind him, and I felt that there was a good chance we'd get home.

"I think he's better at the mile than the seven-eighths. I think he'd run a mile and an eighth very well. So I'm probably going to have to stretch him out to open company. I think he would improve with added distance."

Apprentice Ritvo Wins Four

Apprentice Ritvo Wins Four; Sunday's Rainbow 6 Guarantee $50,000

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - Apprentice jockey Michael Ritvo spent most of his afternoon in Gulfstream Park's winner's circle after winning four races on the afternoon.

The 19-year-old Ritvo, who won his first race in March at Gulfstream, won aboard Flash Winner ($10.20) in the second, Explosive Image ($14) in the third, Encrypted ($5.40) in the sixth and Lucasta ($4) in the 10th. Ritvo finished second aboard Osaka Joe in the first race and sixth aboard Russian Night in the Soaring Softly in his only other mounts.

"There's highs and lows," Ritvo said. "The first few races everything went well and things got better. It's a lot easier to ride when you get into that zone."

Longines Test (G1) Quotes

Leah Gyarmati, winning trainer of Sweet Reason (No. 7): "This seemed like the perfect spot for her - she loves Saratoga, she's shown she likes seven-eighths, her one-turn mile [in the Grade 1 Acorn] at Belmont was great, she came out of that race great - so this was the logical spot. I was very excited about running her here. It came up a very salty field with some really nice fillies in the race, so this was probably her biggest test yet, in my opinion. She was doing really well, though, so win, lose, or draw, I felt I'd done everything I could and she was as good as I could get her. I went in feeling good about the race."

Alfred G. Vanderbilt (G1) Quotes

Linda Rice, winning trainer of Palace (No. 1): "I was a little concerned about the No. 1 post position. It's not ideal. It looked like he broke a step slow, so I was a little concerned at that point. It looked like the No. 5 horse, Happy My Way, was on a loose lead. Obviously, I was somewhat concerned, but this horse is such a competitor. He's got the heart of a lion. Cornelio [Velasquez] went after [Happy My Way] early, and he was able to run him down in the stretch. This horse really has a strong finish, and once he switched to his right lead and he was in reach of [Happy My Way] - he's such a tremendous competitor - I knew that he would get to him."
