Ashley T. Cole (NYB) Quotes
Timothy Hills, winning trainer of Kharafa (No. 1): "I had been watching the races and it seemed like pace wasn't holding up. I started to tell that to Javier [Castellano], but I didn't think it was possible for him to take him back [off the lead]. He said, 'You know, this is a good post to just go.' And I said, 'You know something? He's a good horse. You ride him the way it comes up.' As strong as the horse is, there is no way he'd be able to get him off the pace."
John Hettinger (NYB) Quotes
Rick Violette, winning trainer of Effie Trinket (No. 8): "We were very, very patient today. Watching the Garden City yesterday, it almost didn't matter how slow you went up front; they were going to quicken and you weren't going to win."

Garden City (G1) Quotes
Chad Brown, winning trainer of Alterite (FR) (No. 4): "I think she ran terrific. She looks great. She came over to me in real good shape from her previous trainer, and she just settled in beautifully. Each week she's been here, she's adapted more. She's a high-strung horse, and I thought she handled herself in the race very well. She should improve from here.
Noble Damsel (G3) Quotes
Mike McCarthy, assistant to winning trainer Todd Pletcher, of Peace Preserver (No. 5): "She'd had a little bit of rough luck this summer. She obviously has an affinity for this place, and it was nice to see her put it all together. During the beginning of the summer here she had a rough couple of weeks, and we were able to get her squared away up at Saratoga. She spent some time at Monmouth and then shipped to Saratoga. She had an incident in her stall here and got herself banged up."

$100,000 The Montbrook Quotes
Owner James Dodge (Black Diamond Cat): “We’re thrilled to death with our horse. We bought him for $6,000 as a yearling and he’s turned into a really quite nice sprinter.
“In the Housebuster, coming down to the wire, he still had a lot in him. We thought he could get a mile under the right conditions and it looks like he did pretty easy.”
Jockey Jilver Chamafi (Black Diamond Cat): "I was sitting and waiting for a hole to open. When I shook him he just went and drew off. No problems."
Did you know they were going slow? "It didn't matter."
Note: Trainer Larry Bates was in Kentucky.
