GAUDET HAS TWO CHANCES AT WINNING JOHN B. CAMPBELL HANDICAP


LAUREL, MD. 02-20-14---Trainer Linda Gaudet has a 40 percent chance of winning the $100,000 John B. Campbell Handicap, the co-feature Saturday afternoon at Laurel Park. The 1 1/8 mile test for older runners is race six on the card headlined by the $300,000 Barbara Fritchie Handicap (G2).

Laurel Park News-Four Stakes Races Highlight Saturday’s Card


LAUREL, MD. 11-07-13---The thirty-one stakes races conducted during the Laurel Park fall meeting will take place on six selected days. The final four races on Saturday’s nine-race program are each $100,000 contests: the Geisha Stakes (race 6), the Safely Kept Stakes (race 7), the Japan Racing Association Stakes (race 8) and the City of Laurel Stakes (race 9).

ROBB BABIES LOOKING TO CONTINUE TRADITION SATURDAY

LAUREL, MD. 10-17-12---Jerry Robb is best known for conditioning Little Bold John, who retired in 1993 with 38 wins in 105 starts and earnings of nearly $2 million. LBJ’s 26 career stakes victories represents a Maryland-bred record. His victories included the Donn Handicap (G1) and the 1987 Maryland Million Classic.

2013 MARYLAND MILLION PRE-ENTRIES


LAUREL, MD. 10-10-13---The Laurel Park racing office announced this afternoon that a total of 118 pre-entries, barring late mail or emails after regular business hours today, were named to the nine stakes races which comprise the 2013 Jim McKay Maryland Million.
The 28th running of the event will take place at Laurel Park next Saturday, Oct. 19. First post is 12:15 p.m.

TRACK RECORD ESTABLISHED ON OPENING DAY OF FALL MEET


LAUREL, MD. 09-19-13---After a 14-week break, live racing returned to the major Maryland tracks with the opening of the Laurel Park fall meeting.

“It is good to be back home,” said Laurel Park-based trainer John Salzman, Sr. “It is a whole lot easier and much more relaxed racing here instead of shipping out of town.”

NINE SPRINTERS ENTERED IN SATURDAY’S DE FRANCIS DASH


LAUREL, MD. 09-18-13---Nine sprinters have been entered in Saturday’s 22nd running of the $350,000 Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash at Laurel Park, including local star Ben’s Cat. Post time for the 11-race card will be 1:10 p.m. Eastern.
Introduced in 1990, the De Francis Dash is one of the elite six-furlong sprints in the country with four of the 21 winners-Housebuster (1991), Cherokee Run (1994), Smoke Glacken (1997) and Thor’s Echo (2006)-earning Eclipse Award honors for champion sprinter.
