Festive fun at the races
Dubai Racing Club’s festive Boxing Day at the Races was a sell-out event!
Nad Al Sheba was the place to be to enjoy a fantastic family day out with a difference.
Guests dined on delicious gourmet cuisine, complete with all the traditional favourites, in the beautifully decorated Millennium Grandstand.

It’s Fryvolous again
The Group 2 Mazrat Al Ruwayah, the only Purebred Arabian race on the card, was the feature event at Nad Al Sheba on Friday afternoon at a meeting kindly sponsored by Etisalat.
The 1600m feature looked a match on paper between Fryvolous and Paris Gagner who had fought out a course and conditions race three weeks ago.

Paris to Gagner on Boxing Day
Etisalat sponsor Friday’s matinee meeting at Nad Al Sheba which starts at 3pm and features the Group 2 Mazrat Al Ruwayah, a 1600m race for Purebred Arabians.
National Day Cup winner Fryvolous returns to the dirt with trainer Rod Simpson continuing in fine form and the trainer said: “He is in great shape and has come out of that National Day Cup win in good order. This is a tough test conceding weight and Paris Gagner looks the one to beat.”

Etisalat partners first Friday meeting of the season at Nad Al Sheba
Racing returns to Nad Al Sheba this week on Friday December 26, when the eighth meeting of the season will be sponsored by Etisalat, and is a seven race affair.

Arqaam spearheads Watson double
Arqaam won the featured 2400m handicap at Nad Al Sheba’s seventh meeting of the season, kindly sponsored by Al Nasr Leisureland, on Thursday evening.
Trained by Champion Trainer Doug Watson, he was partnered by Richard Hills, retained jockey to the horse’s owner His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum and was produced to lead in the dying strides to deny Hawks Home.

Leisurely night at the races
Thursday’s seventh meeting of the season at Nad Al Sheba, kindly sponsored by Al Nasr Leisureland, is a six race affair with two AED110,000 handicaps dominating the card.
The penultimate event, the Al Nasr Leisureland Mile, a 1600m handicap, may have only attracted seven declarations but looks a real quality contest with the weights headed by the Erwan Charpy-trained Golden Arrow.

Green coasts to victory
On a night kindly sponsored by Shadwell Farms, featuring two AED110,000 handicaps, Doug Watson’s seasonal debutant Green Coast was the appropriate winner of the featured 1400m handicap.
The race, named after His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s 2007 Dubai World Cup winner Invasor, Green Coast was ridden to a convincing victory by Fernando Jara – who was in the saddle when Invasor won the Dubai World Cup.

Extra race on Shadwell-sponsored card
Thursday’s Nad Al Sheba meeting, kindly sponsored by Shadwell Farm, the American arm of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s breeding empire, is a bumper seven race card featuring a 1400m handicap named after his 2007 Dubai World Cup winner Invasor.
Fernando Jara rode Invasor on that occasion and partners top weight Green Coast who is trained by Champion Trainer Doug Watson.

Double delight for Bin Shafya
Trainer Mubarak Bin Shafya has wasted little time making his mark on the UAE racing scene and, after his first winner with his second runner last week, he saddled a double at Nad Al Sheba’s fifth meeting of the season this evening.
On a card kindly sponsored by BBC World, Bin Shafya saw local apprentice Ahmad Ajtebi land the concluding 1200m handicap on Arminius, having earlier won the 1800m handicap with Emirates Line who made all under Jesus Rosales.
A delighted trainer explained: “It has been a great start to the season and the horses are running well.”
