MARYLAND JOCKEY CLUB UNVEILS 2009 PREAKNESS LOGO

BALTIMORE, 12-16-08---The Maryland Jockey Club today unveiled the 2009 Preakness logo. The 134th running of the $1 million Preakness® Stakes (Grade I), the middle jewel of the Triple Crown, is set for Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Pimlico Race Course.

The whimsical appeal of the 2009 Preakness logo lay in its simple color palette, contrasting the traditional combination of yellow and black, so emblematic of the Preakness, and Maryland’s favorite bloom, the Black-Eyed Susan. The clean and fluid lines emphasize the graceful movement of thoroughbred racing, while showcasing the cherished and iconic symbols of Preakness: the historic Pimlico clubhouse cupola, a prominent Black-Eyed Susan flower and the classic horse and rider.
