Breeders’ Cup Post Position Draw Quotes

Breeders’ Cup Classic and Ladies’ Classic Post Position Draw Quotes

Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott said he was pleased with the post positions drawn by his four horses in the Breeders’ Cup.

Royal Delta, the 9-5 morning line favorite in the Ladies’ Classic drew post 6. In the Classic, Flat Out drew post 2, Ron the Greek, post 10, and To Honour and Serve, post 12.

“Perfect,” Mott said Monday evening as he boarded a flight from Miami to Los Angeles. “They’re good. The post positions are fine.”

RED SUN TAKES $65,000 LURE STAKES

BEJARANO HOLDS RYEHILL DREAMER OFF BY A NECK

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 28, 2012)—In what appeared to many to be a two-horse race on paper, Red Sun and even money favorite Ryehill Dancer traded punches throughout Sunday’s $65,000 added, one-mile turf Lure Stakes at Santa Anita, with Red Sun and Rafael Bejarano emerging as neck winners, getting the distance in 1:34.03. It was Bejarano’s sixth win from seven tries aboard Red Sun.

LURE STAKES QUOTES

JOCKEY QUOTES

RAFAEL BEJARANO, RED SUN, WINNER: “I had to be on the lead with my horse. I knew there was going to be a little speed on the outside so I had to use a little bit of my horse in the beginning, but after that I was able to relax. When I saw the favorite (Ryehill Dreamer) was coming next to me I tried to save as much ground as I could and let my horse go with him. This horse always runs well with me.”

FAVORED LADY TEN & BEJARANO TAKE AUTUMN MISS STAKES AT SANTA ANITA

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 27, 2012)—Rafael Bejarano has been missing at Santa Anita. Missing from his customary perch atop the rider standings, and missing this past Thursday, Friday and, with the exception of the Grade III, $100,000 Autumn Miss Stakes, all of Saturday—his lone engagement, due to a three-day riding suspension.

And, due to the fact the Autumn Miss is classified as a designated race by track stewards, the Peruvian native made the best of his lone opportunity this week, booting home 2-1 favorite Lady Ten, while holding off a furious rally from 9-1 shot Customer Base and Garrett Gomez, to win by neck, getting the Autumn Miss distance in 1:34.95.

AUTUMN MISS STAKES QUOTES

JOCKEY QUOTES

RAFAEL BEJARANO, LADY TEN, WINNER: “This filly is very nice to ride, and easy to ride, too. She likes to be close to the lead so I was a little worried in the beginning. She broke good from the gate but I knew there would be a lot of speed so I tried to make sure to give her help from the gate so she could find a position in the race.
“When I got my position at the first turn I just tried to hold her a little bit then let her run when we hit the top of the stretch. She was easy to ride and I think you can do anything you want with this filly. I was waiting for Garrett’s (Gomez) horse late because I knew his filly would be the only one running at the end. When I came to the top of the stretch I let my filly go and tried to get the jump, but at the same time, I tried to save a little bit for the end. It ended up perfect for my filly.”
