Norman happy with Invitational Trot draw for favorite Bee A Magician


New York, NY --- Following the draw for Saturday afternoon’s $1 million International Trot at Yonkers Raceway, the phrase of the day is “Girl Power.” Converting the expression into multiple languages might prove tricky, but it is unlikely Bee A Magician’s prowess gets lost in translation for the world’s harness racing fans.

Wiggle It Jiggleit wins stretch duel to capture Jug


Delaware, OH --- There was no denying Wiggle It Jiggleit.

Seemingly beaten in mid-stretch, Wiggle It Jiggleit and driver Montrell Teague fought back in the final strides to win Thursday’s (Sept. 24) $677,000 Little Brown Jug for 3-year-old male pacers by a nose over Lost For Words in 1:49.3 at the Delaware County Fairgrounds.

Wiggle It Jiggleit leads field of 15 into 70th Little Brown Jug


Delaware, OH --- Wiggle It Jiggleit, the No. 1-ranked horse in harness racing’s weekly Top 10 poll, leads a field of 15 horses entered in Thursday’s (Sept. 24) 70th Little Brown Jug for 3-year-old male pacers at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in central Ohio. The event, presented by Fazoli’s, carries a record total purse of $677,000.

Sunday is Miller’s time, with induction into Hall of Fame


When harness racing driver David Miller headed from Ohio to the East Coast more than a decade ago, he thought it would be temporary.

He was wrong. And it resulted in a permanent place among the sport’s all-time greats.

On Sunday, the 49-year-old Miller will be inducted into the Harness Racing Hall of Fame during ceremonies at the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame in Goshen, N.Y.

Queen Bee to meet Royalty in Hambletonian Maturity


Bee A Magician will try to return to her winning ways when she faces 13 male rivals – including last year’s Hambletonian Stakes winner Royalty For Life – in Saturday’s $484,850 Hambletonian Maturity for 4-year-old trotters at Meadowlands Racetrack.

Last year, Bee A Magician won all 17 of her starts and was named Horse of the Year in the U.S. and Canada. This season, the mare is winless in three races and coming off a ninth-place finish in the Armbro Flight Stakes on June 14 at Mohawk Racetrack.

USTA to Fund Cobalt Testing


The USTA announces program with Dr. George Maylin to develop cobalt testing

Columbus, OH --- The United States Trotting Association (USTA) announced today that it will fund and work in partnership with Dr. George Maylin from the New York Drug Testing and Research Program at Morrisville State College to develop regulatory controls for the use of cobalt in race horses.

Cutler could produce historic mile


Harness racing fans could witness the first sub-1:50 trotting race on a mile track Saturday at the Meadowlands, but if not then, it is probably just a matter of time.

Saturday’s $175,000 Arthur J. Cutler Memorial for older trotters features a speedy group of 10 horses, including newly minted world champion Sebastian K. The former Swedish star won his Cutler elimination last week, which was his North American debut, in a world-record-equaling 1:50.1.

Hambletonian hopefuls hit track in sire stakes action


A total of 25 Hambletonian eligible 3-year-old male trotters will be in action on the New Jersey and Pennsylvania sire stakes circuits this week.

Pennsylvania kicks it off Thursday with three divisions of sire stakes at Harrah’s Philadelphia. The Hambletonian eligible trotters entered are, in alphabetical order: Auspicious Hanover, Datsyuk, Don Dorado, Exodus Hanover, Fashion Tagman, JJ Alex, Journey, Keystone Wasabi, Kumbaya De Vie, Nuncio, Outburst, Raise The Curtain, and Sarcastic Man.

‘Foiled’, Burke Reign Again at Yonkers


YONKERS, N.Y. - Foiled Again ($2.10) withstood a sustained first-over charge from Dancin Yankee and a challenge in the passing lane from P H Supercam to pick up a fourth straight victory and remain unbeaten in his 10-year-old campaign with a narrow triumph in the third division of the fourth leg of the George Morton Levy Challenge series on Saturday night at Yonkers Raceway.
