Rider Up: Sheena Ryan sticks with it
When the ambulance doors shut and Sheena Ryan heard the siren blare, it was the first time the aspiring jockey had ever thought to herself, ‘Am I really cut out to do this?’
She never believed anything could derail her long-held dream of becoming a jockey. But when the horse she was on flipped and landed on top of her last May on the Woodbine backstretch, Ryan, in the days after, had doubts about pursuing a life in the saddle.

Coronation Futurity Preview: ‘Birds’ is the word or is it His Race to Win?
TORONTO, November 7 – Sam-Son Farm will be represented by two sons of Stormy Atlantic, Up With the Birds and His Race to Win, in Saturday’s $250,000 Coronation Futurity Stakes, at Woodbine.
A key race on the calendar for Canadian-bred two-year-olds, the 1 1/8-mile main track event has drawn six starters, including Up With the Birds, who comes into the race off a strong maiden-breaking performance on September 29 and His Race to Win, fourth in the Cup & Saucer Stakes (turf) on October 20.

Results for the Canadian-connected Breeders’ Cup horses
Arcadia, CA, November 3 - He's Had Enough, second in the Juvenile, and Delegation, third in the Dirt Mile, led the way for Canadian-connected horses at the Breeders' Cup, on Saturday, at Santa Anita.
He's Had Enough, owned by J. Paul Reddam of Windsor, Ontario, endured a difficult trip in the Grade 1, $2-million Breeders' Cup Juvenile, but was courageous to the wire to be second to Shanghai Bobby.

Can Moment of Majesty deliver a former Maple Leaf a Maple Leaf score?
TORONTO, October 31 – Moment of Majesty, a five-year-old daughter of Saint Liam, looks to get back on the winning track for co-owner and former NHL great Curtis Joseph, in Saturday’s $175,000 Maple Leaf Stakes, at Woodbine.
A lifetime winner of four races from 21 starts, Moment of Majesty, who is also co-owned by hockey agent Don Meehan and trainer Sue Leslie, comes into the 1 ¼-mile stake off back-to-back seventh-place finishes in very tough assignments.

Triactors added to WEG fractional betting menu
TORONTO, October 30 - Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) today announced it was adding 20-cent triactors to its live fractional betting menu through to the end of the year.
Beginning Thursday, November 1, racing fans can wager a minimum of 20 cents on triactors during Woodbine's live Standardbred and Thoroughbred cards.

October 29 – Six Woodbine-based horses are among the final entries for the 29th Breeders' Cup World Championships, set for Santa Anita Park, in Arcadia, California, this Friday, November 2, and Saturday, November 3.

A Friday five for Jesse Campbell
TORONTO, October 19 – Jockey Jesse Campbell enjoyed a memorable day of racing at Woodbine on Friday, riding five winners on the nine-race card.
Campbell, who won his first career race at Arlington Park on July 20, 1995, on a horse (Apostle Island) trained by his father, Michael Campbell, and bred by his grandfather, moved his tack to Woodbine in 2011.

A two-year-old bay son of Stormy Atlantic, His Race to Win enters the 1 1/16-mile turf Cup & Saucer off a second-place finish in a one mile and 70 yard Polytrack race (originally slated for the E.P. Taylor Turf Course), on September 23.
