Can Stunning Stag turn up the heat (again) in Autumn Stakes?
TORONTO, November 10 – Stunning Stag, who took last year’s Autumn Stakes in impressive fashion, looks to make a return trip to the winner’s circle in the Grade 2, $150,000 feature, Saturday at Woodbine, an event that has also drawn this year’s Prince of Wales and Breeders’ Stakes champion, Pender Harbour.
Yet another astute claim by trainer Sid Attard almost four years ago, Stunning Stag, who took last year’s Autumn by 3 ¾ lengths, heads into his 31st career start off a third-place finish in the Presque Isle Downs Mile Stakes on September 9.

Maritimer coasts to Coronation Futurity score
TORONTO, November 6 – Norseman Racing Stables’ Maritimer blew past his rivals in early stretch to take Sunday's $250,800 Coronation Futurity at Woodbine.
The Sid Attard trainee rallied from mid-pack after opening splits of :24.38 and :49.25 in the 108th edition of the race to prevail by 2 ¼ lengths over Menlo Castle. Hampstead Heath was third.

Perfect Shirl wins Breeders’ Filly & Mare Turf
November 4, 2011 - Woodbine-based Perfect Shirl stormed down the stretch to take the Filly & Mare Turf event at the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.
It is an excellent topper for the Hall of Fame career of Woodbine icon, trainer Roger Attfield, who saddled the horse for owner-breeder Charles Fipke of Kelowna, B.C.

Breeders’ Cup - Canadian update for November 4, 2011
LOUISVILLE, KY., November 4 - Excaper, along with Grand Adventure and Prospective, who will represent Woodbine on Saturday's card, all enjoyed a gallop over the main track which was rated as 'muddy' on a cool, grey morning at Churchill.
Mark Frostad was enthused by the effort of his Turf Sprint hopeful, Grand Adventure.

LOUISVILLE, KY., November 3 - Six Woodbine-based horses are adding a bit of Canadian flavour to the 28th Breeders' Cup World Championships, set for Churchill Downs, in Louisville, Kentucky this Friday, November 4, and Saturday, November 5.
The weather on Thursday morning was cool, and overcast, but all six of the Woodbine-based contenders galloped over the Churchill Downs dirt before rain began to fall.

TORONTO, October 31 - Final entries for the 28th Breeders' Cup World Championships, set for Churchill Downs, in Louisville, Kentucky this Friday, November 4, and Saturday, November 5, taken Monday, has attracted six Woodbine-based horses.
Trainer Mark Casse, who currently sits atop the Woodbine trainer standings, will saddle Grade 3 Natalma Stakes winner Northern Passion, who drew post 10 in the Juvenile Fillies and Grade 3 Grey Stakes winner Prospective, who drew post six in the Juvenile.

Stormy Lord earns praise in stirring Labeeb score
TORONTO, October 30 – A resilient Stormy Lord denied the advances of an onrushing Hollinger, in a stirring stretch battle, to capture Sunday’s $116,800 Labeeb Stakes at Woodbine.
It was the fourth added-money score of a six-race campaign for the four-year-old son of Stormy Atlantic-Lady Auchamore, and the seventh stakes victory of the season for trainer Ian Black.

Eight Woodbine-based horses set for Breeders’ Cup
TORONTO, October 26 - Eight Woodbine-based horses, including four from the barn of leading trainer Mark Casse, have been pre-entered in the 28th Breeders' Cup World Championships, set for Churchill Downs, in Louisville, Kentucky on Friday, November 4, and Saturday, November 5.
Three other runners with Canadian connections will also make their next start during the $26 million racing extravaganza.

Kitty’s Got Class pounces to victory in Fanfreluche
TORONTO, October 23 - Kitty's Got Class, a daughter of Old Forester, recorded her third win in as many starts, taking Sunday's six-furlong $150,000 Fanfreluche Stakes at Woodbine, for her second added-money score.
Kitty's Got Class broke sharply for an early lead under jockey Emma-Jayne Wilson, but was soon joined by Quality Lass who notched an opening quarter in :23. The six-horse field was tightly bunched down the backstretch as Quality Lass made the half in :46.06, with Kitty's Got Class moving comfortably along the rail.

Welloiledmachine revs up for Bunty Lawless
TORONTO, October 21 – Christine and Dennis Windsor's Welloiledmachine will look for his third consecutive win in Saturday's $125,000 Bunty Lawless Stakes.
The three-year-old Mobil gelding showed a marked turn in form when he won a turf allowance at Woodbine on August 12 off a fifth-pace finish on the dirt in the Prince of Wales stakes at Fort Erie.

TORONTO, October 20 – Thursday’s live Thoroughbred racing card at Woodbine has been cancelled due to unsafe track conditions.
Representatives for the jockeys, trainers and track management assessed the race strip in the area of the six-furlong pole after rainstorms pounded the Greater Toronto Area last night and into the morning.
