Mike Smith (jockey, Outstrip, 1st) – “The trip was really good. I managed to get covered up, just make my way, and follow the right horses. I was following two of the greatest turf riders here in America, Gary Stevens and Corey Nakatani. They showed me a great way to go, and it really worked out for me.”

Charlie Appleby (trainer, Outstrip, 1st) – “He’s not a bad little horse, is he? I was so pleased to see Mike Smith win the last race (the Marathon on London Bridge). There’s no better jock around here. I’m grateful to Godolphin for giving me the chance to train horses like this.”

Ryan Moore (jockey, Giovanni Boldini, 2nd) – “We had a great trip. We were able to save ground. He ran a little green. Maybe a little more experience would have helped today. I saw the other horse (the 4) coming for a long way, I didn’t think I had the race won after I put the five (Bobby’s Kitten) away.

Aidan O’Brien (trainer, Giovanni Boldini, 2nd) – “He’s run a great race. I have no complaints. He was just run out of it again.”

Chad Brown (trainer, Bobby’s Kitten, beaten favorite finished 3rd) – “I’m very disappointed. He’s only two (years old) going out in 1:09 and change – that’s ridiculous.”

Javier Castellano (jockey, Bobby’s Kitten, beaten favorite 3rd) – “He broke sharp out of the gate, he felt good. Unfortunately, he ran off a little bit and he never settled. “

Joel Rosario (jockey, Bon Accord, 4th) – “He ran a big race. At the top of the stretch he was going pretty well, but those three horses in front of him just took off.”

William Buick (jockey, Wilshire Boulevard, 9th) – “He was traveling well. They went very quick, but a couple of horses came across him on the turn and that was it.”

This is Mike Smith’s second winning Breeders’ Cup ride of the day and his record 19th Breeders’ Cup championship winner.
