The $150,000 SF Mile will have its 62nd running Saturday and Gallant Son is among the horses confirmed to start in the race. Entries for the feature will be taken Wednesday morning
Gallant Son, trained by Frank Lucarelli, is a 6-year-old horse who has won seven of his 27 career starts and $380,662. Gallant Son has won six stakes and scored his biggest victory in the Grade 3 Inglewood Handicap at Hollywood Park in 2010.
Jockey Leslie Mawing, who recently moved his tack from Golden Gate Fields to Emerald Downs in Washington, will be back at the East Bay racetrack to ride Gallant Son in the SF Mile.
Other runners confirmed for the SF Mile are: Dunmore East, Kerwin John will ride; Hudson Landing, Juan Hernandez; Live Sundays, no rider; Photo Shopped, Frank Alvarado; and Positive Response, Julien Couton.
Jeranimo, a 6-year-old horse who owns four Grade 2 stakes triumphs and an impressive $858,400 bankroll, is listed as a probable starter. The list of possible starters includes Calimonco, Deacon Speakin’, Mr. Candy Bar, Smug, and Tigah.
Change In Post Time Beginning Thursday – Golden Gate Fields announced that beginning with Thursday’s racing program and through the remainder of the meeting, post time will be 1:15 p.m. Post time has been 12:45 p.m. since the meeting began
Dec. 26. The 2011-2012 season runs through Sunday, June 17.
The only exceptions to the 1:15 p.m. post time will be on the following dates: May 5 (Kentucky Derby Day), May 19 (Preakness Stakes Day), and June 9 (Belmont Stakes Day), when first post will be 11:45 a.m.; and May 25, June 1, June 8, and June 15, when Friday afternoon racing will commence at 3:15 p.m.
