TORONTO, September 19, 2008 - Woodbine Entertainment Group today announced a world-class group of 25 nominees for the Pattison Canadian International, recognized as one of the world's great horse races, on Saturday, October 4 at Woodbine.

The Pattison Canadian International is part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge Series and features a "Win and You're In" guarantee.

A victory in the 1 ½-mile race, which takes place over the E.P. Taylor Turf Course, earns the victor a berth in the Breeders' Cup Turf, set for October 25 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California.

In the excellent group of European nominees is Doctor Dino, a multiple Group 1 winning France-based six-year-old. The son of Muhtathir hasn't run a bad race over two years for trainer Richard Gibson. He would be going into the International off a second-place finish in the Group 2 Grand Prix de Deauville.

Also well-regarded is the German-based Quijano. The six-year-old is well-known to Woodbine racing fans off his third-place finish to Cloudy's Knight in the 2007 International and head-bob defeat from fellow Pattison nominee, Champs Elysees, in the Northern Dancer Stakes last time out.

Champs Elysees, trained by Robert Frankel, may lead the U.S. troops into the Pattison battle. The five-year-old has two wins this year, including a dramatic score in the Grade 1 Northern Dancer over Woodbine's yielding ground on September 7.

The home side would be well-defended if Gus Schickedanz's outstanding three-year-old Marlang was entered in the 71st International. The Langfuhr colt has two straight wins, the Breeders' Stakes, third jewel of Canada's Triple Crown of Racing and the Grade 3 Saranac at Saratoga, for trainer Debbie England.

Also on the Pattison card are three other Breeders' Cup Challenge Series races. The $1 million E.P. Taylor Stakes, for fillies and mares on turf, the $500,000 Nearctic Stakes, for turf sprinters, and the $300,000 Summer Stakes, for two-year-olds on turf, all feature a "Win and You're In" guarantee.

ESPN, the prominent U.S. TV sports network, will be on track to chronicle the racing action in High-Definition.
