ALBANY -- The 9-year-old gelding Anzisong notched his 13th career victory Thursday at Golden Gate Fields when he led from start to finish in a 1 1/16-mile race for $4,000 claimers.

Anzisong, who raised his career winning percentage to 37.1, has finished in the money in 22 of his 35 career starts. The veteran earned $4,730 for his latest victory and the payday boosted his bankroll to $153,074.

Anzisong is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer and was ridden by Russell Baze. The odds-on favorite in a field of five, Anzisong paid $3.40 after clocking a time of 1:46.89. Tropical Heat took second by one length over Alashir’s Storm.

Anzisong has won two straight races and four of his last six starts. He only raced three times in 2011 and recorded a win and a second. Anzisong, a son of Anziyan, was bred in California by Nick Cafarchia.

Baze had a riding double Thursday. In addition to taking the sixth race with Anzisong, Baze won the third race with Frannie Flyer.

Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Friday. Post time is 12:45 p.m.
