Because of extremely high winds projected to gust up to 60 mph, the New York Racing Association has decided to cancel its scheduled live race card at Aqueduct Racetrack on Thursday, February 12, 2009.

Aqueduct will be open for simulcasting on Thursday. There is no parking or admission charge, and gates open at 11:30 a.m.

Thursday’s scheduled races will come back as extra races during the week.

At 9 a.m. on Thursday, the temperature was 53 degrees but sustained winds had already reached 30 to 40 mph. The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for Ozone Park, N.Y. on Thursday, with gusts of up to 60 mph possible into early this evening.

Normal racing schedule will be back on Friday, February 13, with a nine-race card. First race post time on Friday will be 12:30 p.m.
