Owned by Four Roses Thoroughbreds and trained by Hall of Famer Nick Zito, the son of 1998 Belmont Stakes winner Victory Gallop rebounded from a fifth-place finish in Saratoga’s Grade 2 Jim Dandy to win the Grade 2 Pennsylvania Derby at Philadelphia Park by a neck. He comes into the Discovery off a troubled second to Arson Squad in the Grade 2 Meadowlands Cup last month.

Andrew Byrnes, stakes coordinator for the New York Racing Association, posted 26 nominations today for the meet’s biggest race, the 20th running of the Grade 1, $300,000 Hill ‘n’ Dale Cigar Mile on Saturday, November 29.
Among these nominated are Shadwell Stable’s Argentina-bred Lucky Island, who worked a half-mile at Belmont Park on Tuesday in 47.51, breezing; Stronach Stable’s Harlem Rocker, who breezed five furlongs on Belmont Park’s training track on Monday in 1:02.22, breezing, and Charles E. Fipke’s Tale of Ekati, winner the Grade 1 Wood Memorial here in the spring, who breezed five furlongs in 1:02.24 on Tuesday at Belmont Park.

There will be a change of post times next week during HolidayFest at Aqueduct. Normal first-race post time of 12:30 p.m. will be observed on Wednesday, November 26 and on Sunday, November 30.
First-race post on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, is 11:25 a.m. and the ninth and last race of the day will go to post at 3:10 p.m.
First race-post on Friday, November 28 and Saturday, November 29, is 12:25 p.m.
A painting by (yes, that’s by) 2007 Belmont Stakes winner Rags to Riches is among 31 pieces of equine art up for bid on ReRun’s annual holiday Ebay charity auction beginning Sunday, November 23. The “Moneighs,” created by such stars as two-time Horse of the Year Cigar, Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic winner Zenyatta, and Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones using their muzzles, tails and hoofs, are being auctioned to benefit ReRun, a non-profit Thoroughbred adoption program whose mission is to find second careers for former racehorses.
Collectors’ mugs and Moneigh note cards featuring work by A.P. Indy, Funny Cide, Gato Del Sol and Point Given are also being sold for $15 to benefit the organization. The Ebay auction ends on November 30. For more information, visit http://www.rerun.org.
