Jockey Julien Leparoux never left the inside rail with the 6-year-old son of Malibu Moon ($9.60) in the one-mile turf race, edging persistent pacesetter Calimonco by a neck in a four-horse photo finish. Calimonco, ridden by Kent Desormeaux, held second money by a head over Bangalore Gold and jockey Alan Garcia. Sr. Henry finished another head back under John Velazquez.
Carwood, a former assistant to trainer Eddie Kenneally, had previously visited the Gulfstream winner’s circle following Friday’s first race, won by Love in Bloom ($7), who was also making her first start for her trainer.
Leparoux came back to complete the late daily double ($46.40) aboard Deputy Darling ($6.20).

Friday’s 10-cent Rainbow 6 pool will include a carryover pool of $134,366, after multiple tickets with the winners of the last six races on Thursday’s card cashed for $3,301.06. The Rainbow 6 jackpot will be hit when a bettor is the only one to hold a ticket with all six winners.
The 50-cent Pick 5 paid $5,713.35 Thursday to ticket-holders with all five winners.
