Baze, a 53-year-old Hall of Famer, looked like a young, hungry rider as he powered his mounts in the fifth and sixth races to hard-fought victories and then enjoyed relatively easy wins in the seventh and eighth races.
Baze had time to look at the scenery during the stretch run of the seventh race as Spiced Latte ($3.00) carried him to a seven-length victory in the one-mile race. Baze completed his four-bagger by rallying Hard Spun Secrets ($3.20) from off the pace for a 2 1/2-length victory in the 5 1/2-furlong eighth race.
Baze teamed with leading trainer Jerry Hollendorfer for the wins with Emona and Hard Spun Secrets. Hollendorfer had a training triple Sunday as he also won the first race with Kid Stuff ($3.40).
Baze tops the jockey standings with 100 wins through 53 days of racing at the 2011-2012 winter/spring meeting. Hollendorfer sits atop the trainer standings with 55 wins.
Baze and Hollendorfer will hook up again when racing resumes Thursday at Golden Gate Fields. Post time is 12:45 p.m. and the duo will try to win the first race with Light Up The Sky, the 8-to-5 morning line favorite.
