A 5-year-old mare trained by Lloyd Mason, Bleach Blonde blew by the leaders in the final furlong and scored by four lengths under jockey Alejandro Gomez. Special Holiday took second by half-length over Lady of Fifty.
Brett Mason, son of trainer Lloyd Mason, owns and bred Bleach Blonde, a gray daughter of Marino Marini. California-bred Bleach Blonde has seven wins, nine seconds, and nine thirds in 36 starts and $296,878 in earnings.
English Royal, the 4-5 favorite, finished fourth after moving to the lead at the quarter pole and then failing to sustain her rally.
Sunday, in addition to being Dollar Day, is Filipino Fest Day at Golden Gate Fields. Admission to the track is only $1 and the Filipino Fest festivities will include live musical entertainment from the bands 19 Diamonds and Legaci as well as performances by pop singer Amber Lily and comedian Joey Guila.
The Dollar Day menu also features $1 general parking, $1 racing programs, $1 hot dogs, $1 beers and $1 sodas. Post time is 1:15 p.m.
