Acclamation won five consecutive graded stakes in 2011, including the Grade 1 Charlie Whittingham Handicap on the turf at Hollywood Park, the Grade 1 Eddie Read on the grass at Del Mar, and the Grade 1 Pacific Classic on Del Mar’s synthetic Polytrack surface.
“I nominated him to the (SF) Mile to keep my options open,” said Warren when contacted at his Santa Anita barn Friday. “We have the Inglewood at Hollywood Park. The Mile is shorter and I wanted the option to run shorter if I didn’t think he was ready to go longer. We enter for the Inglewood on Sunday. Since entries for the Mile are Wednesday, I’ll be able to look at the Inglewood and have the Mile as an option if I don’t like something about the race down here.”
The following horses are nominated to the SF Mile: Acclamation, Calimonco, Compari, Deacon Speakin’, Dunmore East, Fire With Fire, Gallant Son, Hudson Landing, Jeranimo, Leaving New York, Live Sundays, Mr. Candy Bar, Omayad (CHI), Ourwestcoastghost, Photo Shopped, Positive Response, Sanger Silver, Smug, Ten Devils, Tigah (GB), and Worth Repeating.
Positive Response, the 2011 California Derby winner, and Dunmore East, the third-place finisher in the 2011 All American Stakes, are among the local candidates for the SF Mile.
The field for the SF Mile will be drawn Wednesday morning.
