Elite Miss stalked the pace from the outside and rallied to finish second, while Livinfastforward faded to third after setting the tempo. Dakota Doll stepped the six furlongs in 1:10.2 with Paco Lopez in the irons. She paid $8.60 to win.
FIELD SET FOR HONEY BEE STAKES
Eleven fillies, including multiple stakes winner Love That Dance, are set to fly in the $60,000 Honey Bee Stakes Friday night at Meadowlands Racetrack.
Love That Dance, trained by Ben Perkins Jr., looms the one to beat despite drawing post 10 in the 1 1/16 miles event for 3-year-old fillies. The daughter of Not For Love led every step of the way to win both the $100,000 Maryland Million Oaks on Sept. 26 at Laurel and $60,000 Open Mind Handicap on May 31 at Monmouth Park. She was narrowly beaten in the final strides of the $70,00 Trenton Stakes and $60,000 Spruce Fir Handicap, also at Monmouth.
Love That Dance has a record of five wins, four seconds and one third in 16 career starts. She closed out her 2-year-old campaign with a five-length win over a sloppy track in the New Jersey Juvenile last November at the Meadowlands.
The field for the Honey Bee also includes Lady Alexander, winner of the $60,000 Mongo Queen Stakes in August at Monmouth Park, and the lightly raced Perfect Wedding, winner of two straight for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin.
