The Shadwell organisation of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum were the generous sponsors of the featured 1600m conditions race at Jebel Ali on Friday afternoon but Haatheq could only manage second in the famous blue and white silks of the sponsor.

He battled bravely but could not withstand the challenge of Emmrooz, trained on the course by Dhruba Selvaratnam for his main patron and course owner His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Ridden by William Buick, he battled gamely to record a second course and distance victory but Selvaratnam is looking to step his horse up in trip and said: "We will look at the Jebel Ali Stakes over 1950m for him now. He needs every yard of this trip and will be better over further. Hopefully he will be competitive at the Carnival also."‬‬‪‪

Connections the recorded a double when Canwinn opened his local account in a 1400m handicap with Buick saying: "This horse deserved a win after some good efforts and Dhruba has his horses in good form."‬‬‪‪

Musabah Al Muhairi not only trains Atlantic Brave but also owns the highly progressive youngster who landed the other 1400m handicap in the style of a good horse.

Always travelling strongly, he hit the front 300m out and, despite wandering towards the nearside rail, ran on too strongly for his eight rivals to the delight of Smith who said: "That is only his sixth start and he has won four. He is improving all the time and is definitely a Carnival class horse if he goes on the Tapeta. The Jebel Ali Mile would be another option."‬‬‪‪

Jaci Wickham does remarkably well with her Purebred Arabians and for the second meeting running saddled the 1200m maiden winner.

On this occasion it was Fajr W'Rsan and Richard Mullen who landed the spoils.‬‬‪‪

Racing concluded with an 1800m handicap and Balierus responded well to first time blinkers to win for trainer Mubarak Bin Shafya under Xavier Ziani.
