LAUREL, MD. 01-07-09---Brothers Luis and Geovany Garcia helped trainer Carlos Garcia (no relation) win two races on Wednesday’s nine-race card at Laurel Park.

In the seventh race, 24-year-old Luis, guided Clara’s Song ($12.80) to a driving victory in a $32,000 allowance test. One race later, 20-year-old Geovany was aboard Sharp Lioness ($5.20) for an exciting maiden breaking score.

“That was something,” said Carlos Garcia. “Both gave good rides. Sharp Lioness broke well and was able to get in the middle of the track which looked like the place to be today. Clara’s Song is really good on an off track and we expected her to run well.”

The Garcia brothers, who both rode a pair of winners on the program, are from Puerto Rico. The 68-year-old conditioner, who has made Maryland home for 40 years, is originally from Argentina.
