All gates at Golden Gate Fields open at 9 a.m. to allow fans to watch and wager on the undercard races on the Belmont Stakes Day program from Belmont Park in Elmont, NY. Post time for the Belmont Stakes, a 1 1/2-mile race in which Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner I’ll Have Another will try to become thoroughbred racing’s 12th Triple Crown champion, is 3:40 p.m.
The wine festival will be held from noon to 4 p.m. next to the winner's circle. Tickets are $38 and include admission to the track, 15 samples of wine (patrons mix and match), a sampling of domestic cheeses, fruits and California brushetta, and a souvenir Golden Gate Fields wine glass. A jazz band will provide live musical entertainment throughout the festival.
Tickets to the exclusive Triple Crown/VIP party are $65 and include the following: admission to the track and a racing program; an open bar featuring Bloody Marys, margaritas, a selection of wines and beers; a selection of soft drinks featuring Red Bull; a reception style dining menu celebrating the Triple Crown and California cuisine; two complementary cigars; and a live DJ spinning tunes between the races. The VIP area is located on the mezzanine level at the Club House turn and offers great views of the racing action. The party begins at 11 a.m. and continues to 5 p.m.
Post time for the first race at Golden Gate Fields is 11:45 a.m. The feature event on the program is the $100,000 Silky Sullivan Stakes, a one-mile turf race for 3-year-olds bred in California. The Silky Sullivan is the sixth race and will be run at approximately 2:24 p.m.
The field for the Silky Sullivan Stakes, in post position order, is as follows: Stoney Fleece, Kevin Krigger rides; La Mano Nera, Frank Alvarado; Summer Hit, Russell Baze; Pepnic, Abel Cedillo; Jonny’s Choice, Kerwin John; A Toast To You, Aaron Gryder; and Exotic Slew, Juan Hernandez. All of the starters will carry 120 pounds.
