ALBANY -- General admission and club house gates at Golden Gate Fields open at 7:15 a.m. Friday for the simulcast of the 12-race Kentucky Oaks Day program from Churchill Downs in Louisville. The Turf Club opens at 10 a.m.

Post time for the first Churchill Downs race is 7:30 a.m. The $1 million Kentucky Oaks, the filly equivalent to the Kentucky Derby, is the 11th race on the card and will be run at approximately 2:45 p.m.

Golden Gate Fields will present an eight-race card of its own and post time for the first local race is 1:15 p.m.

The Kentucky Oaks card features six stakes – the Grade 2 $300,000 La Troienne (race six, post time is 10:26 a.m.), the Grade 3 $100,000 Eight Belles (race seven, 11:08 a.m.), the $150,000 Edgewood Stakes (race eight, 12:02 p.m.), the Grade 2 $300,000 Alysheba (race nine, 12:52 p.m.), the Grade 2 $200,000 American Turf (race 10, 1:44 p.m.), and the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks (race 11, 2:45 p.m.).

Saturday, all gates at Golden Gate Fields will open at 7:15 a.m. for the simulcast of the Kentucky Derby Day card from Churchill Downs. First post at Churchill is
7:30 a.m., and post time for the Kentucky Derby, the 11th race, is 3:24 p.m.

Kentucky Derby Day will be a festive day at Golden Gate Fields with mint juleps and the fourth annual “Run For The Roses Hat Contest” ($1,800 in cash prizes). Free shuttle buses will operate from the North Berkeley BART station to Golden Gate Fields throughout the day.

Golden Gate Fields will present a 10-race card, with the first local contest being run at 11:45 a.m.
