ALBANY -- Powers Lilsis, responding to strong urging from jockey Roberto Gonzalez down the stretch, ran down pacesetter Judy Patootie in the final yards to win the $36,240 sprint feature at Golden Gate Fields Sunday.

Powers Lilsis defeated Judy Patootie by 1 1/4 lengths in the six-furlong contest for fillies and mares and paid $15.60 after stopping the timer in 1:10.20. Stop the Humor finished third.

Southern Orchid, the 4-to-5 favorite, chased Judy Patooti to the stretch but had no punch down the lane and finished a disappointing fifth in the field of six.

Powers Lilsis, a 3-year-old filly by All Thee Power, is trained by John F. Martin and owned by Michael Strohmaier and Peter Osuna. A consistent California-bred, Powers Lilsis has four wins, four seconds and a third in 12 career starts.

Powers Lilsis earned $23,400 for Sunday's victory and the payday boosted her bankroll to $91,580.

An eight-race card on Wednesday will kick off the final week of racing at the 2008 fall meeting, which concludes Sunday, Dec. 21. Post time is 12:45 p.m. and there is a carryover of $17,237 in the Pick Six.
