A post-race party to be held at Gulfstream Park Saturday, Florida Derby Day, will benefit the Old Friends thoroughbred-retirement home and the New Vocations racehorse-adoption program.

The party is free and open to the public and will begin immediately after the 12th race in Gulfstream Park’s South Beach area. The event was organized and sponsored by Horse Society Magazine, an emerging publication that has made a splash in the industry with its profiles of the sport’s leading lights and its coverage of the “Lifestyle of Thoroughbred Racing.”

Gulfstream Park President and General Manager Bill Murphy said, “Gulfstream Park is pleased to be part of Horse Racing Magazine’s efforts, any efforts, to help these marvelous animals after their racing careers have ended. This fund-raiser fits perfectly with our efforts, through such initiatives as our own Barbaro Foundation, to protect the stars of the show.”

HSM’s President and Publisher, Dino Baccari, said, “The purpose of our magazine is to provide punctuation to the great fun that racing provides, especially at venues such as beautiful Gulfstream Park on Florida Derby Day, and the purpose to the post-race party is to raise needed funds and to raise awareness that there is a responsibility to take care of these great athletes after their racing days have concluded.”

Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the day, in Ten Palms on the second floor and outside Christine Lee’s on the third floor, for several high-end products from such manufacturers as Rani Arabella, Montechristo, Lex Diamond and Heavenly Halos.
