Glitter Rox, a bay daughter of Glitterman and Prophetically, a dark bay daughter of Pulpit, have established themselves as legitimate contenders in the seven-furlong turf event.
Black will have more girl power in the form of his riders.
Owned by Ellie Boje Farm, Mitch Peters, Dean Read and Jean and Jim MacLellan, Glitter Rox is a four-time winner from 13 starts, including a mark of two wins and one second from four starts on the grass.
The Ontario-bred won her initial turf start on September 30, a 1 ¼ length score at seven furlongs.
This season, Glitter Rox has one win and two seconds from four starts, including a runner-up effort in her most recent race, the 6 ½ furlong turf Repercussion Stakes.
After a slow start, Glitter Rox rallied determinedly, but couldn't catch Marina Ballerina down the long stretch.
Sutherland is hoping for a better beginning and strong finish.
"She's doing really well," said Sutherland. "She's on her game and she's confident. She's the type of horse that always gives you her top effort.
"She's strong in the lane, but she has a tendency to look over at the grandstand. I guess she's just trying to say hi to the fans."
Prophetically, a three-time winner from 16 starts, heads into the Belle Geste on a winning note, after an eye-catching off the pace victory at 6 ½ furlongs on August 4.
Bred and owned by Kinghaven Farms, the late-closing filly has had limited experience on the grass, but has performed well in both, adding a third-place finish to her resume.
Last year, Prophetically won once in 10 starts, but also posted three seconds and three thirds.
"She's a hard-trying filly," commented Wilson, who rode Count to Three to a second-place finish in last year's Belle Geste. "She ran a great race last time out. Hopefully, she'll come up with a peak effort and get herself a stakes win."
The $100,000 Ice Water Stakes, set for seven furlongs on the grass, is also on the programme.
