Jack Mandato’s Ididntmeanto prompted the early pace, dropped back to third on the turn, and then came with a rush through the stretch to take the $40,000 allowance feature at Monmouth Park on Wednesday.
The winner, trained by Rick Dutrow Jr. and ridden by Pablo Fragoso, scored by nearly three lengths and stopped the timer in 1:10 3/5 for six furlongs on the fast main track.
Ididntmeanto paid $10.20, $5 and $10.60 across the board as third choice in the field of five fillies and mares. Isn’t That Special, longest shot on the board at 14-1, was second, completing the $90 exacta and paying $8.40 to place and $23.20 to show. Champagne Coolie paid $8.80 to show.
The large show prices were a direct result of the fourth-place finish of Daguerreotype, the 7-10 favorite in the win pool and overwhelming choice in the show pool.
This was the first win of the year in four starts for Ididntmeanto, a 3-year-old daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus who was making her Monmouth debut.
