INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 14, 2009) — Lady Lumberjack overtook pacesetter Pinkerbelle at the sixteenth pole and drew off to score a three-length victory in the $48,000 feature as jockey Rafael Bejarano capped a three-win afternoon Thursday at Hollywood Park.

Lady Lumberjack, a 3-year-old daughter of Forestry owned by Roger Licht and David Milch, covered 6 ½ furlongs on Cushion Track in 1:15.59 while registering her second win in six starts.

The 2-1 betting choice, she paid $6, $2.80 and $2.40. Wynning Ride returned $3.20 and $2.60, while the show payoff on Hard Kisses was $4.40.

Trained by Julio Canani, Lady Lumberjack banked $28,800 to raise her earnings to $56,000.

Earlier on the program, leading trainer Doug O’Neill sent out 2-year-old Southern Fireball under Bejarano to score a 4 ¼-length win over Ballistic Sue in Cushion Track record time of :50.67 for 4 ½ furlongs. The victory was the 12 of the meeting for O’Neill.

Bejarano overtook Joel Rosario and holds a 25-24 lead atop the jockeys’ standings entering Friday night’s program at Hollywood Park. Post time is at 7:05 p.m.
