Marie Rossa will be looking for her first career stake victory in the $100,000 George Rosenberger Memorial at Delaware Park this Saturday. The mile and a sixteenth turf stakes has attracted a total of 15 fillies and mares. The Rosenberger, which is restricted to horses that have started at Delaware Park in 2008, is limited to twelve starters.
Marie Rossa has a win and a second in both of her North American races. In 2007 and 2006, the 4-year-old daughter of Testa Rossa raced in France where she compiled a record of a win, three seconds, and a third from eight outings. Her lone win came against maiden company in going a mile and a quarter. In her North America debut, which was at Delaware Park on July 4, the Great Britain-bred posted a ¾-length score in a mile and a sixteenth turf allowance. She followed by running second, after being steadied, in a one mile turf allowance at Saratoga on August 18. She sports a career record of two wins, four seconds and a third from ten starts with earnings of $90,146.
