Irish-bred Marzelline, the 5-2 second choice piloted by Tyler Baze, drew away in the final sixteenth to win the featured $85,400 CTT and Thoroughbred Owners of California Handicap Friday at Del Mar.

Marzelline, owned by Peter Harris and trained by Ben Cecil, won by two lengths over High Heel Sneakers, who was 1 1/2 lengths in front of the even-money favored Green Lyons. The latter was compromised by traffic problems during the mile and three-eighths test over the infield Jimmy Durante Turf Course."

Marzelline, a four-year-old daughter of Barathea, accomplished the marathon distance in 2:13.53 and returned $7.40, $3.80 and $2.20 after scoring her fourth win in 14 starts. First prize of $50,376 increased her earnings to $138,657.

Runner-up High Heel Sneakers paid $4.80 and $3, while Green Lyons paid $2.20 to show.

With no perfect tickets in Friday’s Pick Six, Saturday’s program will feature a carryover of $133,537.
