The 4-year-old daughter of Giant’s Causeway was beaten one length by Horse of the Year candidate Zenyatta in the Hirsch while traveling the It’s In The Air distance of 1 1/16 miles. The Neil Drysdale trainee will be making her Hollywood Park debut from the outside post Sunday in a field of seven fillies and mares which lines up as follows:
Brazlian-bred Double Trouble, eighth here while making her last start on turf in the Beverly Hills in June, will return from the layoff on Cushion Track, where she finished fifth behind Zenyatta in the Milady Handicap on Memorial Day.
The 5-year-old is one of two Bobby Frankel-trained entrants, joined by fellow Brazilian-bred Eissoai, who will be making her third U.S. start on Sunday. She was an impressive allowance winner at Santa Anita in September at 1 1/16 miles.
Bai and Bai, a 5-year-old winner of ten races and a race-high $667,618, has won a pair of stakes in four 2008 starts — the Foster City at Bay Meadow and the E.B. Johnston at Fairplex Park.
Gambler’s Justice, winner of the CTBA Marian in her most recent start at Fairplex Park, finished first in the 1 1/16-mile Melair here in April, but was disqualified and placed third.
Spenditallbaby finished ahead of Bai and Bai while checking in fourth in the Cal Cup Matron, while Pio Pico winner Kalookan Year shifts to Cushion Track after finishing 12th on turf in the Cal Cup Distaff Handicap.
The It’s In The Air will run as the third race on Sunday’s nine-race program at Hollywood Park. First post time is at 12:30 p.m.
