LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 14, 2011) – Trade remained brisk during Monday’s session of Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale, with results once again registering double-digit increases.
On Monday, Keeneland sold 276 horses for $5,136,400, up 35.3 percent from a year ago when 260 horses brought $3,795,800. The day’s average of $18,610 increased 27.4 percent from $14,599 in 2010, while the median rose 25 percent to $15,000 compared to $12,000 last year. The buyback rate decreased 17 percent from 2010.
Cumulatively, 1,904 horses have been sold for $201,192,900, an increase of 47.7 percent from last year’s $136,145,600 for 1,924 horses. Average price rose 49.3 percent from $70,762 to $105,669. The median of $36,500 was up 21.6 percent from last year’s $30,000.
Onenightin Beijing, a four-year-old Indian Charlie mare in foal to Forestry, brought the top price of $130,000 from Glen Hill Farm. Out of the Mr. Prospector mare Goldminess, Onenightin Beijing is from the family of Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Blush With Pride and Broodmare of the Year Better Than Honour. She was consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.
Lavin Bloodstock paid the day’s second-highest price of $90,000 for Southern Scholar, a full sister to 2009 Arlington-Washington Futurity (G3) winner Dixie Band. Consigned by Lane’s End, agent, the mare is by Dixie Union and out of the stakes-winning Forty Niner mare Tutorial.
