For the first time, Thistledown will offer a 10-cent Fortune 6, a Pick 6 variation that pays out the entire pool only when a single ticket has the winners of six consecutive races. When multiple winning wagers are made, 40 percent of the pool will be paid to those winners and 60 percent will carry over. Although Thistledown’s racing year technically covers four named meets—a nod to the four area tracks that combined to become modern Thistledown—the Fortune 6 pool will carry over across those dates.
Thistledown also adds a second Pick 4 to its menu, paying out to players who correctly pick the winners of races one through four. Like the returning late Pick 4, the new early Pick 4 can be played with as little as 50 cents.
Returning to the wagering menu is the popular 10-cent Superfecta. Thistledown’s standard $1 Daily Double, Exacta, and Trifecta wagers remain in place as well.
No matter their choice of bets, members of the track’s loyalty program, Player Rewards, will receive triple points throughout the meet when they wager on Thistledown’s live races.
Player Rewards members already enjoy another advantage that will culminate on opening day, when Thistledown will give away a trip to Horseshoe Casino and Resort Southern Indiana. The trip includes two nights’ lodging at the Caesars Entertainment property, tickets to the resort’s Paula Deen Buffet, and a $100 gas card. The drawing is open only to Player Rewards members, and registration is already underway. Current members receive one free entry when they register for the drawing, and new members receive one free entry when they sign up for the rewards program. Members also can earn additional automatic entries each day, one for every $50 wagered per day, until registration closes April 21. The winner must be present to claim the prize when the drawing is held opening day.
Also on opening day, the track will give away gift cards before every race. Additionally, from 1 to 4 p.m. race fans can visit with Majic 105.7 WMJI radio personality Chip Kullik and spin to win tickets to see Smokey Robinson at the Tri-C JazzFest and a $400 gift certificate from Conrad’s Tire Express and Total Car Care. Bill Lewis and the Roadcrew from 98.5 WNCX will be on hand as well from 2 to 4 p.m. with chances to win still more prizes.
Race fans can keep up with all the news from Thistledown by way of its new Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/ThistledownRacing.
The meet’s first stakes race, the T. F. Classen Memorial, six furlongs for fillies and mares three-years-old and up, Accredited Ohio Foals, closes April 20 and will run April 30.
First post opening day is 1:50 p.m. ET.
Thistledown will present eight live races each Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday through November 5. Beginning September 8, the track will add Thursdays to the schedule.
