ALBANY -- Palace Mistress, who broke her maiden in a turf stakes at Turf Paradise, is among the nine 3-year-old fillies entered in Saturday's $75,000 Golden Poppy Stakes at Golden Gate Fields.

Post time Saturday is 12:45 p.m. and the Golden Poppy is the featured eighth race on a nine-race program. The Golden Poppy will be contested at 1 1/16-miles on the Lakeside Turf Course.

Palace Mistress is trained by Dennis Sowers and based at Turf Paradise in Phoenix. She'll be saddled Saturday by Northern California trainer Terry Knight, who will welcome the filly into his barn Thursday morning.

Palace Mistress was bred in Pennsylvania and is a daughter of Out of Place. Palace Mistress made her career debut in a 5 1/2-furlong sprint on the dirt at Turf Paradise and overcame a slow start to finish second.

Sowers moved Palace Mistress to the turf for her second race and the change in surfaces agreed with the filly as she charged from eighth in a field of nine to win the 7 1/2-furlong Treasure Town Stakes by 1 3/4 lengths.

Veteran Bay Area jockey Barrington Harvey has been given the riding assignment on Palace Mistress for the Golden Poppy.

The field for the Golden Poppy Stakes, in post position order, is as follows: Digestivo, Roberto Gonzalez rides; False Impressions, Julio Garcia; Cornish Rose, Danny Sorenson; Point of Reference, Alex Bisono; Summers Peace, Chad Schvaneveldt; Maid For Music, Frank Alvarado; Glacier Peak, Russell Baze; Sweetwaterwind, David Lopez; and Palace Mistress, Harvey. All of the starters will carry 122 pounds.
